Round #20 of WORLDPHOTOGRAPHY CONTESTS
The theme this week
BRIDGES OF THE WORLD
This is a bridge I have crossed many times when leaving Prince Edward Island. These photos were taken from the shore on the New Brunswick side on December 24th when Hubby and I left the Island to visit my sister over Christmas.
This curved paved serpent connects the Island I live on to the mainland in New Brunswick.
The bridge opened May 31, 1997, the 12.9-kilometre (8.0 mi) bridge is Canada's longest bridge and the world's longest bridge over ice-covered water.

When the bridge opened it was named The Confederation Bridge but in Spring of 2022, the PEI legislature voted in favour of renaming the bridge to Epekwitk Crossing which is the traditional Mi'kmaq name for Prince Edward Island.
I have not heard if this is official yet as the name change needs to be approved by the Canadian federal government in order to take effect.
My only problem is, will I be able to pronoun properly the new name.
