Hi #hive , Gonna share one of my fav artworks I ever done, Also it was one of the toughest as well as far as the details and get as much as real as possible.
I started this artwork by downloading the complete model from 3drender.com http://www.3drender.com/index.html , Modeled by Alvaro Luna Bautista and Joel Andersdon.
After looking around on google to check how the real museum looks like I managed to gather few references for my texturing process as I tried to capture every single details around.
After a week of UV unfolding to every object in the scene, I managed to export few UV layouts and with some photoshop skills I managed to create few realistic textures based on merging photos and textures together.
These are a mix between wall's, Column's, Floor textures.
Day time render
After I managed to Shade and texture all the elements we move on to the lighting stage, I have created 2 diff looks for my day time, One with ambient lighting and one more with a direct sun coming from the window for a different vibe in the scene, I kept the colors rich in general for a warm feel
Maya Render
This is Maya raw render without any Comp/Edit, I used V ray physical sun and sky for the light and the camera, With a low exposer as I can enhance that in my edit.
Night Render
For the night lights I used blue sky dome, My interior lighting did all the work as I tried to copy as the real reference, Multiple spot lights around with a warm pass made a beautiful cold/warm mix in the render, Adding some saturation in edit helped create a nice vibrance to the image.
Night Maya Render
Same as the day time render I have kept my exposer low in the render to get more freedom in my comp editing the lights brightness.
Render Passes
For my comp I kept it simple, I used ambient occlusion for some contact shadows, And for the ID pass mostly I use that one for masking and more elements control.
