Hello everyone.
Here are a series of three works I released today. They are called "Koru Tahi", "Koru Rua" and "Koru Toru", and together they make up "Fronds".
Koru Tahi means "Frond One" in Te Reo Maori, the first language of New Zealand. Koru can mean "fold, loop, coil or curled shoot" and tahi means "one". Rua and Toru mean "two" and "three".
The works are collages of macro photography of textures. They are divided by lines that were hand-drawn in marker on paper and then digitised and distorted.
The hues have been severely altered. Noise was added. Some blurring and cloning was required.
I once heard that the first and primary unit of Maori carving and of our mathematics is the curve, or the koru. This is a completely different system of thought to that which relies on the straight line. That was my main inspiration for "Fronds".
The works are exclusive to NFT Showroom. Only three copies of each will ever be created. Full commercial rights. Signed by the artist at pixel resolution bottom right.
The backgrounds of the pieces are important too. They are meant to reflect their titles, with a circle, intersecting lines and a triangle for the numbers one, two and three.
I hope you enjoy them. Check out my full gallery here:
