It's that time of year again and we are all excited about who is coming next week. The letter has been written and we even got to meet the man himself in person before he starts the busy season. My eight-year-old is still clinging to his belief in Santa. With hopes that he will get all he asked for. I had to take him aside and tell him that whatever Santa doesn't bring I would make up the difference. I think it is only fair to split the costs as neither of us is made of money.
Today I bought him a ukulele, just from me. I think it will be a good starter instrument to go along with his great voice. He did a solo in the school play this morning and I will admit that Clodagh and my heart melted to the voice of our angel singing Edelweiss.
I look forward to taking some time off work to do some work around the house. There will be no rest but, a change is as good as a rest for me. I have an extractor fan to install and a truckload of logs to cut into firewood. Domestic bliss.
I like Christmas mainly because from the 21st of December the days get longer and it means we are starting to see the other side of winter. I think it is nice that we have formed all these stories to go along with the changing of the seasons and even though it has been hijacked by commerce it is good to remember that it is all about family and our ancestors trying to make sense of the world in which we live.
Continuing on from my last post this is the second sculpture I made in my Radiologist friend's garden. It was from 2011 so, a long time ago in my sculpting years. Nothing too special about it except that it was cold as I made it. Christmas was coming and he wanted a themed piece for the children. I made their request for a Santa.
He looked sweet enough and was funnily enough coming out of the present bag. This was an element I made to give support, so I didn't have to give him legs and the presents added more support.
Apart from the hands that looked like something AI would have carved, he turned out OK. But over 12 years later I think I could do a better job.

Ps
Thanks for reading. I use PeakD to document my work as an ephemeral Sculptor of sand, snow and ice, amongst other things. This will hopefully give it a new life on the Hive Blockchain.
I hope you'll join me again soon
I am also starting to create NFTs of my sculptures and welcome you to my gallery where you can own a bit of ephemeral sculpture history.
