Hello friends,
I got cold from our vacation time last week. So today I felt like I need to do something relaxing. I decided to do tropical gradient art with palm trees. Also I put a candle next to me to have some warm atmosphere around me.
Materials used.
small brush
aqua brush
watercolor pencis
watercolors
*white acrylic paint *
watercolor notepad
First I made a pencil gradient. I colored with yellow, orange, red, purple, violet, and blue.
After I finished coloring with the pencils I began applying water, and look how colors brightened up.
I had to wait for about 5-7 minutes until my paper was dry. After that I started drawing my palm trees with black pencil.
I purposefully didn’t color some parts on the trunk so that the gradient background colors stay visible through those gaps.
Here I added one bird in the sky. I thought two would look weird and three would be too many for this small paper size.
I was about to finish drawing here but changed my mind. The palm trees look too dull to me. So I decided to go over it with a mix of black and navy watercolors, to add some expression.
I also tried to draw a sun using white watercolor but it wasn’t strong enough to look the way I wanted it to be.
Here I went over the sun with white acrylic paint. Now it definitely looks better.
I also added a few strokes with black and navy to the ground.
The last strokes with navy color made an unexpected change that I really liked. It made it look like there is a thin line of ocean between the sky and the land.
Here is the result of my art meditation. I should admit it helps me a lot to relax for 15-30 minutes and as a result bring my thoughts together.
Here s my cozy looking workspace.
One more cozy photo of a fall themed decoration.
