Well back at the painting today — this is #27 of the daily painting challenge. I am nearly at the month’s end… and while I’m glad to be close, I’ve honestly enjoyed painting so much despite how insanely busy this month has been. These last 3 days are crucial though. I am sooooo busy and I am NOT the “day ahead” that I had planned to be for this end-of-month craziness.
Anyway — here is today’s painting.
does it need more, yes
can i do more - yes
am i going to do more - nope... lol
🎨 Colours
Sky: ultramarine + white, with a dash of raw sienna down the bottom for that soft haze.
Trees: a mix of ultramarine, cad yellow, yes I did use black, chromium green, and the occasional whisper of red.
Road: surprisingly filled with colour — there’s blue, green, yellow, even a bit of red worked through. It’s not just grey!
🖼️ Composition
Nothing too fancy today. It’s not the most “painterly” subject as there’s really no major focal point other than the good old road vanishing off into the distance. The eye travels straight down but there isn’t much to pull it back around the painting again.
But — this is a daily study, not a masterpiece, and I’m totally fine with that.
☀️ The Day That Was…
HELLISH, really… lol.
After the gym this morning I came home and decided to do some storm cleanup. Cleaned out the pool, did weed-spraying (I hate doing this because of the bees, but it was essential), and eventually mowed the lawn. Cleaned out some pots and generally spent about four hours in the garden. Likely have mild heat stroke… yikes.
Then it was the last day of school, so off to collect the kids and do a double drop at dancing. Most unusual — normally I’ve got one home with me. And now here I am painting up a storm.
Tomorrow is likely a total shit-show again. We have the full studio rehearsal and I’ll be there ALL DAY cooking sausages and doing food… and probably mopping up water because it’s supposed to storm again. Really not what I want at all!!!!
Last year it rained all day, and i spent the day mopping out the toilet floors that flooded... all day... with 200 kids in expensive dance shoes it was less than ideal...
anyway,, lets see what tomorrow brings!!!
