Daily Painting: Lollipops, Vomit, and Vibes – A Morning Gone Sideways
Ugggg… ok. Today did not go to plan.
I got up early, desperate to get that last post out before the UTC clock clicked over.
Made my coffee, sat down at 5:20 am, ready to write the post before getting the kids up at 5:58… and then —
At 5:45, my little one gets up crying, saying she feels sick.
Now, mummas know this routine — nine times out of ten they just need a poop.
So off I sent her to the toilet while quietly cursing the ten minutes it just stole from my posting routine.
(Yes, I feel bad, but still… kids — please, be sick on your own time!)
Anyway… nope. Vomit.
Seriously. Not what I needed today.
edit: on puting this post together i can see (with the painting blown up on screen) that i forgot to add the dull shadow layer on the side of the lollypop sticks and it is too pink...
The Day That Followed
I had PT, physio, appointments, a date with a blog and a painting — not to mention the housework mountain.
Instead, Miss 6 has been tucked up in bed voluntarily (which says it all) with a 39.1°C temp even after Panadol.
So, of course, I’ve been providing ice water and crackers like a good mum while muttering into my coffee cup.
On the bright side — being stuck at home meant I got today’s lollipop painting done! 🍭
🎨 About the Painting
The background is a lovely mix of reds from my palette —
I’m assuming Crimson, Quin Magenta, Ultramarine, a bit of Yellow, and a tad of Dioxazine.
It leans blue on the left and red on the right, and honestly it turned out so pretty I need to use it more often.
The lollies themselves are mostly Yellow and White, with a tiny bit of Ultramarine to dull that orange-yellow down just a smidge.
That’s pretty much it — a few shadows and highlights to pull it together.
It probably was about an hour of actual painting time, just spread out, since I had to do thicker yellow layers after going colour-happy and painting the entire background first.
I figured the lollies would pop more if the background colour came through — and they do, but it meant a few coats to get coverage.
Life, Mess, and Mum Mode
Now I need to go clean again, because sick kids and I do not want to catch this.
We’ve got a family outing on Sunday to see Wicked at the Gold Class cinemas, and I’d really rather not be green for the wrong reasons.
Anyway — that’s the painting (and chaos) for today.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings… and what I end up painting next!
