Daily Painting – Sunday Sleep-In & a Gingerbread Man
Right folks… it’s Sunday.
We slept in.
And by slept in I mean I was still in bed at 7:30am.
This is unheard of. Like… maybe five times in my life have I been in bed that late. I honestly could not believe it. It was quite frankly almost time to cook dinner by the time I woke up… lol.
Ok not quite… but you get the idea.
I got up and:
- the chickens were furious with me for forgetting breakfast
- the cat was cantankerous
- the washing and dishes were all waiting for me to get on with
I fed the chickens and the cat and decided the dishes could wait (and two hours later made the kids do them), then sat down to decide what to paint.
The Painting
I decided on a very kitsch little Christmas painting — a gingerbread man.
it took me all of 30 mins... however daily painting is finishing a painting... and finish it i did... never siad it needed to be a masterpiece... did i? lol
Method
Background:
Very simple. Dioxazine purple and white, with a smidge of ultramarine and… black.
(Yes, black. I was lazy.)
The Shape:
Honestly… whatever came out of wherever.
It was leftover paint from yesterday. I had started a painting of a dog and it was taking too long, so this happened instead.
The cookie is mostly sienna and umbers, with a touch of red, and even a bit of the purple sneaking in here and there.
Buttons:
Just a simple green.
The Icing:
This actually used the most colours:
- a warm white (red, brown, white)
- a cool white (dioxazine + white)
- then a more pure white with a tiny touch of yellow
Final Thoughts
The whole thing took 30 minutes.
It’s a bit cute but also… done.
What can I say.
Instead of writing heaps, I’ll leave you with a quick YouTube video of the painting — but seriously, this was a super fast paint.
See you tomorrow.
