PAINTING THE MACARONS
so i have always had a bit of a love affair with still life... either photos or paintings. I like weird ones... both very traditional still life AND weird angle modern ones of odd objects like a kids toy and fingernail clippers... lol while mostly recently i have been working on sky paintings. I have had time to do some #dailypainting of food in still life.
These are the Macarons...
Daily painting longer than i wanted 1-2 hours (due to dodgy background..lol)
METHOD
These are in Atelier Interactive Acrylic paints. unusually i did NOT start with the background... It doesnt look right when you don't do the whole background in one go i think. But sill me i had drawn on the sketch before painting the background and didn't want to redo it. I regretted it early in the painting.. but... what can i say... its a daily painting... i try and knock those puppies out in about 1 hour or so, no time for fixing things.
that being said i wish i DID go back and fix it because the background was a struggle and took 5 times as long as it should have because i was working around the macarons.
ah well... next time i won't make that mistake... lol... It sok when you are doing some more detailed work and you have time to go around and fill in like the ones below... (Note the big one is oils and not finished...
I also used thicker paint than normal, i don't normally work in the middle. I normally either have thin paint or "Throw the paint on with a shovel.." lol
Struggles with the photos
I'm really struggling with the photos of these ones as i used iridescent paint in the top layer and i just can't get it to pick up on the camera
Anyway you now get to see 100 photos of the painting at various angles... i "staged" it everywhere round the house trying to get it to work. Alas... not really
Here you can probably just see the sparkle
Not sure if you can actually see the little bit of sparkle here or not.... but it is hiding in there. The colours really are quite bright and not muted.
I wish i had done more study of the actual cookie before i painted them... i didn't really and it shows i think. The form of the cookie is not quite right. I looks like there is two layers of cream?? when really there is one and the Macron has LEGS... lol... I found this out last week when i learned to MAKE THE MACARONS.
BLOODY DISASTER THAT WAS... lol
i made such a mess... the macarons went everywhere. I need a new piping bag.
anyway here you can just see the glitter in the paint
.
HERE ARE THE MACRONS I MADE
I might in a different post go through the awesome method i used to make these... they are super fun and super complicated. I am a clean cook, and my kitchen looked like a bomb had gone off in it it was REVOLTING!!!
Note i made THESE AFTER THE PAINTINg.... had i made them BEFORE the painting perhaps the painting would have been better. Note to self to EAT the cookies before you PAINT the cookies.
Anyway thanks for looking folks. THERE IS NO VIDEO for this one as i was in the kitchen painting not the studio.
