This is the latest drawing I have been working. I thought about a little change of style as I wanted to go out of my comfort zone. So doing a portrait and making it fit within my pointillism technique was a challenge I have made for myself.
When I was a teen I had a major crush on Keanu Reeves. Don't ask me why, it was probably because of his role in Matrix. His facial features are quite unique and I always admired him as a person as well, for living quite a simple life for a celebrity.
I started with a sketch. Free hand. It is very hard to believe that from this stage I can actually end up with a portrait.
I own few graphite pencils and I worked with what I had.
I wanted to include something more special so I wrote I am proud of Romania. Because I am confident that Keanu would actually say that if he would ever visit my country lol.
Of course that I could not contain myself and I had to add dots. Pencil work and ink work seem to go pretty well, the only issue I had was the scanning process. Pencil details are not taken up by the scanner and the photos made with my Fuji actually do a better justice to this work of art rather than the high resolution scan I had to make.

Stepping out of your comfort zone is not easy and definetely a bit scary. But also very fun. Portrait work is not easy and I can understand why for some it is highly appreciated.

P.S. All of my best wishes for any Hive members who are in Ukraine, going through all of the ordeals. I can't grasp the idea that in 2022 a war like this is still possible. A proof that the Ego and the hunger for power can eat away the humanity from every brain cell in a person's mind. It is truly sad.
