When I started painting to depict the friendship we share, I knew it wouldn’t be just any painting. It had to reflect something real, something raw. This painting is for my best friend, Shyam.
We live in different countries now, far from the streets where our childhood was spent. We are opposites in behavior, in nature—yet, somehow, we are still the same. Every time we meet, we fight over nothing. It’s a strange bond, one built on arguments, teasing, and making life tough for each other. And yet, we are best friends.
The colors in my painting speak louder than words. Black and red—shades of our endless fights, our stubbornness, the chaos we create whenever we’re together. Our friendship stands on pillars of clashes and disagreements, but that’s exactly what makes it strong.
But when we are apart, everything feels different. We still talk, but I miss him. I know he misses me too—though, like most friendships between boys, we never say it out loud. That’s the thing about our bond: we understand each other without needing words.
Some friendships are too deep to be explained, too special to be put into sentences. But I tried to capture it in this painting. Because sometimes, emotions are best expressed through colors, not words.
