Looking at this first Finished piece in my Singularity series
had me thinking.
It was not dark, but vibrant and bright!
I came to this series Because of Steemit
and a challenge including tech I believe. Having come from mainly paitning adorable animals in people like situation with jolts of colour, it might make sense that my 'view' of the post Singularity world had a bit more joy and colour.
Yet, looking back now,
I wonder how much darker the pieces became because the world, over the past few years, has become a bit darker.
I have to say that I do love the darker moodier colour palette
of my more recent pieces in this series. Heavily influenced by 19th portraiture, but there is a jovial almost naivete' in my colour play.
Is the colour washing out of me?
or the world or both?
I'm an avid gardener
and since lockdown the garden, even more so than than studio, has been my salvation. It has been the 'escape' to the outside world. I even have found in my garden palettes more unified themes. In my beds I'm doing now on the seaside, I've chosen a butter yellow and quiet purple for my annuals. I love the combination, but no riots of bright pinks and bold oranges this year (other than the ever present Daylilies which will arrive in a month's time)
I hope that our world can become more vibrant again
and that with it the joy of that jolt of intense pure hue that is a world that is Open to explore and discover or even, when we hide away,
