I love vintage paintings, still lifes, along with all the worn, old utensils. The past meets the present, bringing childhood memories to the surface.
Ah, the good old days, when there were no computers, no mobile phones, and in many places not even electricity! Life was not easy, often filled with much suffering, but people and families were much more united than they are now.
When I was a little girl, there was no longer a war and people were no longer persecuted because of their origins, but in the intellectual family where I grew up, we lived very modestly. On summer mornings I would run out into the tall, wet grass and pick daisies. I would put them in medicine bottles (cough syrups) just like these, only the color was different, a nasty dark brown. Isn't blue and green so much more beautiful?
Now you can see a tutorial, step-by-step. I took a lot of care in pre-drawing with graphite pencil.
First I painted the background layer by layer.
Then came the bottles and the yellow centres of the flowers.
Almost done! Or not yet?
I spent at least as much time on the detail as before. And finally done!
Look at the details!
