Dear Hive artists and art lovers,
I want to show a watercolor picture of a beautiful deer. I didn’t strive for a true-to-nature representation, but rather thought further. A deer with such branched antlers, of course, does not exist in reality. There is a stylized golden plant motif on his forehead, with the cosmos with stars in the background.
Well, let's begin with a pencil sketch then masking with masking gum.
I used Campus masking-gum, made in France.
When the masking gum totally dried, I put some rainbow colors on the previously moistened paper (using a sprayer)
Some more darker tones were added. Before that, I removed the gum from the stripes - they were unnecessary.
The most dangerous step is splashing - with a toothbrush. A huge dark purple spot was in the wrong place.
**I let it dry then continued with splashing white tempera. Then I removed the masking gum.
**
Painting the face - the speciality is ambiguous color
Drawing with black fibre pen and white gel pen, painting the golden decoration on the forehead, then some gold on the antler.
In addition, here is a puzzle, of course also my watercolor, based on a photo.
Is the deer watching the rising sun or you?
