Strange beings arrived on our planet, all had something in common, a black hole in their face.
We were dominated by this new race that was very familiar with nature. They slowly abducted humans in strange ships.
When it was my turn, I tried to fight back but it was a futile effort, that same day I was born again. The ship released me into the vast universe, some force kept me floating and guided me into a huge bubble of water. After a few agonizing minutes of struggling for air and dying humanly, I was changed. I became a faceless being.

-Step 1:
The main idea of this new illustration was a human falling in the air, but to look for the strange side, on top of it there would be bubbles, ok that's not so strange, but it was an excellent starting point.

-Step 2:
Immediately after the sketch I started the coloring, here I adjusted a little more the pose of the character, I wanted to achieve a feeling of desperation when he was looking for something to hold on to and couldn't find it.
And of course, the bubbles come into the scene, if you wonder what is the trick I applied to make them, I chose the hard way, I looked for a couple of reference images and drew them manually, they were very long days of detailing over and over again, but fascinating.

-Step 3:
Now comes what gives an interesting touch to the scene, at the suggestion of a friend, I made a planet below, which would be the planet of transformation of the faceless beings, once there, all traces of humanity will be left behind.
At this point I had been doing and redoing details in the water for a week, I wanted to achieve something visually stunning and I challenged myself to do it bubble by bubble.

-Step 4:
The bubbles were almost ready, but there was a problem, I was not happy with the pose of the character, his left hand looked disproportionate, and luckily for me, the whole character was in a separate layer, so it didn't affect the rest of the scene if I modified it a little bit.
But that "little bit", turned into many new sketches to achieve something I was happy with. In my cell phone gallery I still have some of the many photos I took to use as references.

-Step 5:
Tip of the day: If you do digital art, try to be tidy and organize each element by layers, this will help you to make all the changes you want without damaging your art or redoing it all over again.
In my PSD I had at least 50 layers (not counting the ones I had already blended) which allowed me to relocate the bubbles to the center without any problems.
In these last steps I applied different effects more typical of photo editing, but perfect to give the artwork a boom. First a contrast layer, then a soft color dodge for the bubbles, the blues and greens in the water were a kind of glitch effect by manipulating the rgb channels, and of course a gaussian blur to focus the viewer's eye.

I will leave you a GIF with the whole process on it, so you can better appreciate the illustration process.
Tell me in the comments that you imagine when you see this illustration.
See you in a future post!
