Esa Kripanik is an artist from Igloolik, Nunavut. He is a stone carver that focuses on the animals of Nunavut. He carves Limestone into bears and cubs, seals, walruses and then on those carvings are reliefs of even more animals!

This particular piece is (I believe) a limestone carving of a Walrus on a piece of ice. It also has a relief on the back of a mother walrus carrying her baby on her back. Something Walruses do on long voyages so the baby doesn't tire and slow them down. He told us that he ran out of ivory from walrus tusks to use as the tusks in the statue, so instead, he carved some pieces of Bowhead Whale rib bone into the tusks. He also mentioned making a set of caribou antlers out of the same material for another piece.
I apologize if the #onchainart community does not approve of this type of post being in this hive, but the Inuit of Canada barely have access to the internet, let alone know what a blockchain is or how it could affect their lives, so I wanted to show off his carvings to an audience that may appreciate a unique and rare form of artwork.
