What would be the meaning of 3 crows chatting during a cold night, with the full moon on a red sky?
As you may know, whether it is a superstition or not, the meanings associated with the crows are as follows:
- intelligence
- higher perspective
- fear
- doom
- death
etc...
I don't have much belief in symbolism but taking the below picture sparked some ideas in me.
I know the image is not really sharp and there is not much story inside. Three birds are resting on top of some machinery. Also, I am aware that there is not much about photography.
But as I thinker more and more, I applied some processing to the whole picture into a red monochrome picture. As I mentioned above, the meaning of crow evoked the color of red in my mind.
By using HSB color mode, I filtered brightness as follows:
- if((color_of_pixel & 0xFF) > 90)
{put red square, brightness is a little bit randomized} - else
{leave it empty}
And the result is as below:
Then I thought about changing the silhouettes to a more humanly environment. Maybe the black area down the left could be a building, and the structures on the right are some supports for a billboard on the roof. On top of that why not adding a window on the left area which may highlight the life in the city. After all, the meanings are created by human communities. Which in turn affecting daily life one way or another.
Ok, a dark mood poured on the lives of some folks living in that apartment. They seem to be awake, but maybe they are afraid. I don't know what they are afraid of... Then I decided to add a cold feeling. Here the snow may work. Since I can select the color of it as complementary to the red. By randomly placing snow circles, the image turned out as follows:
I think it is not bad until now. I just need some side decorations to make it shine. For the record, these images above may seem low-res, but actually, I exported the last one as a PDF file so I can resize it in a vector-based editor.
So for the final image, I decided to add a full moon from Pixabay. Thanks for the image by Pexels from Pixabay. No hesitation to use this picture because of the license terms by Pixabay. Then I did some spraying and brush touch in the editor for the accumulated snow at the bottom. And below is the final result.
