Siempre he sido pésima dibujante, lo admito...aunque sí me divierte mucho el hecho de emplear colores, marcadores y pinturas para simplemente dar rienda suelta a la creatividad. Es una actividad bastante agradable y, aunque la vida no me regaló grandes dotes artísticos, me divierto mucho coloreando, pintando o simplemente recortando y pegando.
I've always been a lousy drawer, I admit it... although I do enjoy using colors, markers and paints to simply give free rein to creativity. It's quite a pleasant activity and, although life didn't give me great artistic skills, I have a lot of fun coloring, painting or just cutting and pasting.
Recuerdo que cuando estaba en el colegio para las clases de Educación Artística teníamos un libro repleto de pinturas y esculturas renacentistas, barrocas, contemporáneas y de otros períodos de la historia del arte. La intención de la profesora era que recortáramos las figuras de un tema en específico para elaborar una composición...y ahí fue donde surgió mi interés por una técnica artística en particular: el Collage.
Una de las razones por las cuales me gusta tanto la elaboración de un Collage es la libertad. Sí, la libertad...la libertad para recortar, rasgar y superponer elementos de distintos colores y formas para luego combinarlos aquí y allá con otros y finalmente unificarlos logrando una composición impresionante.
I remember that when I was in school for Art Education classes we had a book full of paintings and sculptures from the Renaissance, Baroque, contemporary and other periods of art history. The teacher's intention was that we would cut out the figures of a specific theme in order to elaborate a composition... and that's where my interest in a particular artistic technique came from: Collage.
One of the reasons why I like so much the elaboration of a collage is the freedom. Yes, freedom...the freedom to cut, tear and superimpose elements of different colors and shapes and then combine them here and there with others and finally unify them achieving an impressive composition.

Hacía mucho tiempo que no dedicaba tiempo a elaborar un collage, así que en cierta forma la cuarentena me ha permitido retomar este tipo de actividades que tanto me gustan y que por falta de tiempo había dejado de lado desde hace tanto tiempo. En esta oportunidad les comparto un collage de una linda Guacamaya que realicé hace algunos días.

Para la elaboración comencé dibujando la silueta de la Guacamaya y algunos otros detalles, como sus plumas, que simplemente servirán como una guía al momento de ir pegando cada figura por individual. Los colores y las diferentes formas recortadas o rasgadas poco a poco irán dando vida a un maravilloso resultado.
For the elaboration I started drawing the contour of the Macaw and some other details, such as its feathers, which will simply serve as a guide when pasting each figure individually. The colors and the different shapes cut or torn little by little will give life to a wonderful result.

A pesar de tener tanto tiempo sin elaborar un collage de este tipo, quedé muy feliz con el resultado. Creo que mi parte favorita es la combinación de las distintas tonalidades de azules que simulan el plumaje.
In spite of having so much time without elaborating a collage of this type, I was very happy with the result. I think my favorite part is the combination of the different shades of blue that simulate plumage.
