My first 3D Layered project from this year 😁
I am a fan of steampunk art so I have to do something since Valentine's Day is almost here.
I started with a sketch on my Samsung Tab S6 tablet using the app Painter
I have to think of each layer in 2d and imagine how it would look in 3d and to create depth and also all the parts of the layer to be united
I use that sketch as a guide and in Illustrator I design each layer in vector format
I save in different formats and I also spread the layers so they can be cut on a laser cutting machine
That is all the crafters need to cut the file, but I go further than that and make it in 3D to simulate different materials and colors to give them some ideas on how they can paint it.
I made a quick guide for them to know in what order to assemble the layers
I import the SVG file in Blender and from geometry I give some depth to each layer. I make it as mesh and export that 3D Object
you can see how each layer look like
Now the fun part, make it look nice in 3D and create nice renders for presentations, try different materials and colors, and see what works. I use Maverick Studio to render the images.
And here are more renders
I have some friends with laser cutting machines around the world that help me test my work so I can see how it looks like in real life.
Usually are cut from plywood, MDF, acrylic
Here are some examples of photos they sent me with my files tested on their machine
Unpainted
Black and white
Painted with markers
Painted with acrylic spray
That is all for today
If you have a cutting machine and you want to cut it you can purchase the cut files from my Pixaroma Shop
Thank you
