As a child, I collected frog eggs, hatching them in my fish tank. I was fascinated with the transformation of a water-breathing creature into an air-breathing amphibian. As soon as the polliwogs lost their tails and started climbing out of my fish tank, I would gather up the tiny frogs and turn them loose in our back pastures creek where I had collected the frog eggs. The frogs I collected were the Northern Red-legged variety.
