Hello! Today I will share to you a short comic I drew in celebration for the BEER DAY last August 7. It's not Happy Birthday but Beer Day, okay? I thought it would be fun to draw a comic about Ryota drinking beer when I learned about Beer Day.
Ryota Kohama is the bassist of the band ONE OK ROCK and he is known to love drinking and regret it later on for drinking too much.
The comic is read from upper to lower, left to right. I made it just like how a Japanese comic (manga) should be read. Hehe.
On the upper panel, you see Ryota lying on the floor calling Toru to give him water ("mizu" means "water", "hoshii" means "I want") while pulling his hair because of too much headache from drinking too much while Toru stares at him with his arms on his waist because he has to take care again of his drunk friend. The yellow text on the left which reads "Ryota baka" means "Stupid/Crazy Ryota". This is often said by Taka. Meanwhile, I know Tomoya would just laugh at the sight of his friend drunk, so I put some "Ha Ha" too.
On the lower left panel, you'll see Ryota raising a glass and having the time of his life 3 hours ago before getting knocked down. Lol. "Kanpai" means "cheers".
Japanese are known to hold drinking parties. Some go all out and some just get easily drunk. And what's hilarious in the Japanese culture is that most won't bother to help someone who have passed out in the middle of the road. The drunk person will just be full of shame once he/she comes back to his senses.
Here's a video of a drunk Ryota. You can hear the loud laugh of Tomoya! Lol.
For making this comic, I used a frame from the Clip Studio Paint materials. The frames automatically adjusts to the canvas which is very convenient. I only adjust the sizes of each drawing to fit on the windows then erased the excess. And voila! Instant comic style art! Clip Studio Paint has a lot of free materials you can download and use. So cool!
Here are drawings without the frame.
