If you ever played older versions of Dungeons and Dragons, the Armour Class system of lower the better can be somewhat counter intuitive. Me, well, it is the system I grew up on, so it just was the way it was. Since 3rd edition DD&D, ascending (higher is better) has become something of the norm. So much so that old school clones such as Swords and Wizardry offer both systems for use. I like that idea. I still tend to use the descending system in my games, but my kids, who play mostly 5th edition are more familiar with the ascending system. It's all about preference. Anyway, I though it'd be fun to do an illustration that demonstrates the concept. I've include this picture in my freely available zero level Swords and Wizardry rules: Zeroes, Not Yet Heroes. I'll go more into ZNYH sometime soon. For now, cheers and happy gaming!
