HI HIVEANS
He asked, "Why are you looking so down?" I replied with a shrugged, "How?". Then he went on, "The stress is written all over your face. I can even see it in your eyes."
THE STORY OF MY LIFE
That's how I got my eyes digitally removed, and my face disfigured, lol. So that this man can't get inside my mind.
But, my man still read between the lines and understands when I was in the dump or cloud nine. Now, I realized it wasn't just my eyes or face that was selling me off. But my whole body gave him a hand.
When we're sad or happy, it's not only our face that's steam up, our whole body is involved. Our eyes are just the gateway to our inner person.
PROCESS
SKETCH:
I did a couple of sketches to grasp the emotions she was expressing. My focus was on the face, but down the line, I realized that even her shoulders were involved in her expression. That's when the idea of removing the eyes, come to light.
I finally went with this one. I guess it because of the colorful yellow background lol, you know what? yellow is my fav.
BLOCKING:
This is the stage when I painted the base layers. I did that under the sketch line.
DETAILING:
Then I added some details. I used a texture brush from Aaron Griffin pack to get that sharp edge and textured blending.
BACKGROUND:
This was my best shot at the background. I love the reflection of light on her right sleeve (You'll see that in the close up). Maybe I did that too much on the hair. To me, the sharp transition was fine and dandy.
This was another chance I took on the background. But, here I did the basic blending, and I played with grey (areas).
Finally, I couldn't resist trying out yellow. I'm glad it turned out well. What do you think?
