Hi hi! Just dropping by to share my animated fanart which is a lot of fun making after a 2 year hiatus. The fanart I have today is Amber from the game Genshin Impact.
(Hey! vid edit is at the very bottom. Do take a look if you'd like!)
It was a tough couple of years for me. I stopped doing what I love and enjoy the most (making art and playing). But good news, recently I found a supportive and fun community which brought back the creativity in me again. I'll probably write about it in my next blog if I have time.
About this fanart, I was having doubt at first because I feel like digital art won't be as much as appreciated before due to AI art that has been taking over the internet these days. But while I was drawing, I realized that I actually love making art and nothing else matters. I even realized that the most fun part that I love in the process is making the line art. I don't enjoy playing Genshin as much as before but at least I still keep it as my inspiration in my future drawings.
I never wanted to stop drawing and I hope I can continue to do so.
I originally planned for this as an illustration only but while drawing, I realized why not try to animate as well. Do everything I can because I don't know when I'll be drawing again. After animating I even tried to edit its timelapse. It was a great and fun process.
Well that's enough feelings for this animated fanart I guess XD.
The software I used for illustration and animation is Clip Studio Paint;
and the video editing I used is capcut.
I posted the video on tiktok but I also did make another yt channel so I could show the video edit because I deleted mine before which is what I use when embedding videos here in peakd.
As usual, here is my process which includes:
Sketch
I don't remember if its the same before but I do two sketches now. First one's a draft and the other one's (well) a final draft with the general deatils.
Line Art
My favorite part, which I just recently discovered. I actually did the line art in different layers because I was thinking of animating it so that it would be easier than having the line art all together. That's also the reason I don't mind the over lapping. This time I did not made a line art for the food as I was planning on directly coloring it from the sketch.
Base, Shading. and Lighting
As usual, I colored the base and do shading and lighting in a different layer. This time though coloring was divided into food, head, hand, body, hair(bangs), and hair(rear)
Food
Head
Body
Hand
Hair
After these for the finishing touch is the little floating baron bunnies as well as the red shade behind the character.
All in all this is it for the illustration. The following animation was made also in csp by using keyframes on each part. I was supposed to do frame by frame animation using mesh but I can't grasp it yet so mehXD, maybe next time.
Bonus!
Here is the edit I made I love the song. It is composed by Rj Pasin who is all over Tiktok right now. (I don't really know where to find a template matching the song and with the edit I want so I did this manually)
Phew! That was actually a lot of fun and is also satisfying for me.
Drawing, animating, editing, and blogging - I hope I have the time to do this again.
It's really refreshing.
