I’ve recently gone through something I never truly prepared for — unexpected financial difficulties that hit me at the worst possible time.
Just a few weeks ago, I remember setting aside some money specifically for emergencies. I told myself I was being responsible… planning ahead… doing the right thing. But life had other plans.
That money is gone now.
Not spent. Not invested. Stolen.
I lost it to wallet hackers.
What hurts the most isn’t just the loss — it’s the realization that I tried to be careful. I thought I had taken the right steps. I believed I had secured everything properly. I kept replaying every decision in my head, asking myself where I went wrong.
Why did I keep it in a hot wallet? Why didn’t I double-check everything? Why wasn’t I more cautious?
It’s a painful loop of “what ifs” that doesn’t seem to end.
The truth is… someone smarter, more calculated, and more ruthless found a way in. And just like that, something I worked hard for disappeared.
It hurts.
It really does.
There’s a certain kind of pain that comes from losing money you’ve earned with effort, time, and sacrifice. It’s not just financial — it’s emotional. It feels like a part of your effort was disrespected… violated.
But I guess this is life too.
Life doesn’t always reward caution. Life doesn’t always protect the honest.
Sometimes, bad things happen… even when you try to do everything right.
The Harsh Reality We Live In
People close to me often say I think too much about negativity. They tell me I focus too much on uncertainty, on what could go wrong.
But how can I not?
Our experiences shape the way we see the world. Reality isn’t just one universal truth — it’s personal. It’s built from what we go through, what we survive, and what we lose.
Someone who has never been betrayed will trust easily. Someone who has been hurt repeatedly will question everything.
This is how we are formed.
This is how we become who we are.
How People Justify Wrong Actions
One thing I’ve noticed is how easily people justify doing wrong.
A scammer might say they had a difficult childhood. A criminal might blame their environment. Someone who steals might claim they had no other choice.
And maybe… some of that is true.
But not all pain should turn into harm.
Not all suffering should create more suffering.
There are people who go through hell and still choose to be kind. Still choose to be honest. Still choose to build, rather than destroy.
So what really defines us?
Our past… or our choices?
Life Isn’t Always Fair
If life worked like the movies, good people would always win. Justice would always be served. Bad people would face consequences.
But that’s not the reality we live in.
Sometimes, good people lose. Sometimes, honest people get taken advantage of. Sometimes, the ones who try the hardest are the ones who suffer the most.
And that’s a hard truth to accept.
Kindness, loyalty, and honesty are rare qualities. And sadly, the people who carry them are often the ones who get hurt the most.
It feels unfair.
It feels cruel.
But it’s real.
When Everything Falls Apart
This situation didn’t just stop at losing money.
Right after that loss, an unexpected financial emergency showed up — something I needed to handle immediately.
