While the third years are busy doing their research, the graduating students on the other side were having a hectic hell week even after the final exams and completing the Practicum requirements. We have been required to attend some activities that was exclusively facilitated for us.
In that case, we have to attend the mock interviews and job fairs to further prepare ourselves for the new beginnings that we would undergo after the graduation rites. Also, we have done a Recollection activity to strengthen our spiritual well-being and to enlighten our minds with the uncertainties of the future.
Career Week Snippets:
The school collaborated with different companies to impart necessary information needed on looking for a job, especially on how to ace the interview in each of the job sectors in the city. Particularly, in a call center setting, one of the companies that have shared their insights on the matter was the Teleperformance. They are one of the top performing and reputable BPO company here in Bacolod City.
Mostly, the speaker taught us the important skills needed to do the job well and most of it was tackled in our classes, too. Communication and active listening skills are crucial while working in the industry. Paying attention to details and handling an irate customers while maintaining a polite gesture with them is top tier self-control. One skills that I couldn't attain well, I guess I'm more irate than the customers if I heard them cussing my job.
| It's me in my business attire with the coat that's not my size. | And then, a few hours later, I took it off 'cause it's too hot. |
In the afternoon, the faculty members of the school and the speakers initiated a Mock Interview exercises for the attendees. I have already gone through it when the Second Semester started where we had our BPO subject, so I have a free pass to it.
The next following day, the school collaborated with the PESO Job Fair program of the city to launch this activity to introduce job opportunities to students. Again, I have a free pass to it since my contract as a part time NSTP Subject Matter Expert Instructor in Collegio de San Agustin Bacolod hasn't ended yet. Instead, I checked on each posts of the Responders who are on duty that day and helped my fellow students in applying for a job.
Recollection Snippets:
A half day deliberation of spiritual growth and facing the fear of uncertainties of what the future holds. Thinking about the future, especially the next steps to do outside the school premises is enough to give us anxieties. Within the school, there are teachers that guided and prepared us to see the real face of life, but still, it hits different even though you know exactly what to do yet you have fears to do it by yourself after the graduation.
When our expectations weren't achieved in the future, it's enough to destroy our entire well-being if you're not resilient enough to start all over again or continue after failure by failure. When the ministry asked me this, "What do you expect yourself to be 5 years from now?"
I replied that, "I'm mainly passionate on public service. So, I expect myself to secure an office at our City's local DRRM unit since empowering people and saving lives is my advocacy to give service to the people."
From there, the exciting part comes in. What will you do when you fail to achieve the expectations of what you wanted in your life in the future?
What to do exactly when you're at your lowest and in your most desperate moments?
That's where our faith in God and resiliency goes in. The importance of strengthening our faith in God and never losing hope is our key to survival; this is what the pastor of the ministry have implied during the recollection activities.
The uncertainties of the future could make us anxious and doubt ourselves, but having a strong faith that there's a better future ahead for you can ease your way through it. However, it's better to always remember this quote, "When a door closes, another window opens," so don't ever lose hope in your future endeavors.
