City Of Broken Dreamers is a very adult orientated (both with the violence and language) cyberpunk visual novel. Set in a dystopian megacorp future, genetic defection syndrome has been infecting the human population for years, and the number of cases has been increasing.

However, given a case to find a missing girl, who may be infected with this disease, and who may have gained advantages with it, you need to find find her before rival organisations do.
Playing very much in the style of Bladerunner, X-Men and various other movies, this visual novel styles itself very much more than just a visual novel, especially with it's frequently animated 3D scenes – and not just for the adult stuff too.

The story is very good – with very few occasional errors. Every so often you get a chance to unlock scenes if you can find hidden clues (but you only get once chance), and there is always a glossary available for reviewing who you know or describing details. However, it doesn't detail everything you come across, which would hopefully fixed in later updates.

Choices are available and quite numerous and certainly affect the story in the very short. Whether any decisions carry on later in the story (when it's been done), is unknown though.
There are a few action sequences, but this mostly happens later in the game, and are pretty well handled, even though they aren't overly violent. The protagonist has a tendency to go for non-lethal hits.

Characters you meet are certainly interesting, if somewhat cliqued. Quite a few are pretty shady, but nothing is clear-cut. However, everyone does feel that they belong, and they act realistically.

Music is fine throughout and goes with the scenes, and there is the occasional sound effect to, mainly during the action sequences.
