I hope this post meets you all well..
Something sad-funny just happened to me and I'd really like to share and hear from fellow chessmaniacs..
I'd like to start by saying I'm a very serious person, too serious that most people sometimes find annoying and not befitting a youngster like myself. But that's just me, and I'm unapologetically proud of it. That said, I find cheating in chess and literally any other games simply meaningless and senseless..
Chess is a game I love and obsess over, and it's more than just the fun.. it's as if getting better at it makes me a better and more intelligent person... So I ask myself, why would anyone cheat? Doesn't that defeat the entire point of self improvement/development?
But I guess not everyone share the same enthusiasm and strong will like I do..
To my main point, I have an alternate lichess account I use mostly when I want to try out new things or simply experiment.. usually on my other device (a tablet) and the account just got suspended for supposedly violating it's terms.
My offense?
I played a "simple position" "so perfectly" I was accused of cheating.
I'd like to emphasize the fact that most people don't really understand "accuracy" in the game of chess.. playing 90% accurately against a 1200 rated player might not be as good a play as playing 70% accurately against a 2000 rated player.. it all comes down to the game itself and a number of factors at play..
Did your opponent play poorly? Were you able to punish their mistakes? How close were your moves to the top engine moves?? And so on ...
So many players get misled by the concept of accuracy.
This particular game was a no-brainer for me.. I was able to take advantage of my opponents inaccurate play and got a accuracy of 98%.. supposedly that means I had engine assistance 🤦..
I just discovered the account has been suspended and while I felt angry for being wrongfully accused I couldn't help but also laugh out loud. I played too well that I got accused of cheating?? How ironic!!
I am someone who hasn't really studied chess, I spend most of my time watching live games and I pick quite a lot from those. I also watch a lot of YouTube from channels like Gothamchess, Gm Igor smirnov, chessbase India and the likes.. so, as far as theory goes.. I know just little.
BTW, my opponent was roughly 1600 few points above mine, I don't know why it's such a big deal when I win against 1700 and 1800 players at times. They even blundered their queen while desperately seeking counter play.. but Godforbid I punish or find their blunders.
Chess is a game I love religiously and I don't think even money could make me cheat.
I'll share the game details below and I'd really like inputs from you experienced players.
