I have been away from the Hivechess tournament because of the inconsistency in events and how busy I have been lately. Well, I said it was high time I made a good comeback, given that I did not perform well in Friday's Hivechess tournament because I was in transit, so I played poorly, or even worse, if there is a better word to categorize my performance.
With that said, in the 17th round of the Saturday Hivechess tournament, I performed well, finishing in 2nd place after playing for a long time and staying in 1st place for a long while as well. But it was not enough. When the time came to the end of the tournament, it took Jaki a couple of good wins to kick me off my throne. In his last game against stayoutoftherz, I was desperately hoping it would end in a draw while I grab my point from my last game FCastrol, sadly, the case was reversed. For me, I got a draw while Jaki got the win and won the tournament.
I did the best I could and got a 2212 rating performance from the tournament, with a 77% win rate from 13 games played. Then broken down in simple numbers, that is 10 wins, one draw, and 2 losses, of which one of the losses was to the tournament winner.
This game against stayoutoftherz was a very lucky game for me because when I say the player defended well, he actually did so. After grabbing the free piece I gave, it was strong defending moves from there on. Even though I went for the 2 rooks for the queen exchange, I had no choice but to hope he would come out with his king and place it on a poor square, which later happened to be the case. In my best case, I was hoping for a draw, but when I found a checkmate, I was super happy for that.

This is another game where fortune smiled on me once again, and I can say anything but thank you. The player was so on point right from the middlegame. Once they got the edge, they just kept pressing down all the way. At some point, I was contemplating clicking on the resign button after my 2 rooks got forked, but I just made up my mind. If I am going to lose, then I will lose all the way. A couple of moves later, my opponent got in a mate in 2 trap with my rook and knight. Thankfully, I did not resign earlier.

I ended up finishing with 39 points in second place.
