Hey chess players and lovers of the game of chess,
It was a tough one for the ninth round of the 21st season of the Friday Hivechess Tournament. I had to put up a fight in this round but it was not strong enough. I had to settle for 6th place in the event.
I finished with a win rate of 57%, a less berserk rate of 43% where I only berserked players lower rated than me. Unfortunately for me, I lost to one due to time pressure, and then I blundered more pieces while rushing.
I got some interesting games during the tournament, especially the one where I stalemated a winning position, and the scream from the top of my voice was louder than I expected.
This is the game where I threw the win away. Out of everything to play on the board, all I could settle for was a king move. No other king move but the king to f6, where I locked the only escape square for the opposing king. Sadly it was a draw once that move was made. I cannot admit that I do not know the sequence of this move with a passed pawn and a bishop, rather I ran with my king like a loose cannon and ended a won position on a draw. Too bad for me.

Here is an interesting game where j played well I must admit. The center attack on the white pieces is one I can admit I applied a lot of pressure. I had to boost my focus when I noticed that the white pieces were loose without much coordination and the white was being overworked by defending a lot of pieces, which made it easy for me to spot the free piece.
After that piece dropped, it wasn't really strong for white to play well with the remaining pieces coupled with the active I had also in the position. I was able to pull in the win on this one.

I had to add this game because of the interesting sacrifice I made in the game. I had to do something when my opponent's attacks started coming in. I needed something desperately and luckily I got the rook sac on c3. This got me the chance to grab the win because it led to the checkmate that ended the game.
It was a sixth-place finish for me in this round until next time.
