Welcome to my blog, where I talk about the games I play, my experience while playing them, and anything game-related.
This round of the Friday Hivechess tournament was a nice one for me, given that my performance was good and I went all out with the berserk button. Since the time control was a long one with 5+1, I knew I had to beserk to gain more time to play another opponent. If you do not do so, you will get stuck in the loop of trying to finish one game while the other person is busy berserking and finishing their game faster than yours, so there is more time for them to play more games.
I had a rating performance of 2033 because this round had a low turnout. I guess a lot of people missed it. So I played lower-rated players, and the only player stronger than me in the tournament crushed me twice when we got paired. Therefore, he got the first-place position, and I had to settle for second.
In this game against , the organizer of the tournament, he did a really nice thing aside from playing very well in this game through his strong defense against my attacks; he offered a draw in the position. Although the game is a drawn position, what was nice about it is the fact that when I had only a few seconds on my clock, I think less than 3 seconds.
Ideally, he would have played on and beat me on time, but I guess he noticed I was trying to see if I could win the tournament, so I needed every point I could get. I think the next round is the last round, and I will try my best to win it. It would be nice to win the Friday Hivechess Tournament at least once, and what better way to do so than in the final round. I have never won the Friday Hivechess Tournament, on the Saturday Hivechess Tournament.

In this game, it was a funny one because after the inaccurate Bb5+, I was able to pull off something from it when my opponent did not play well. They went for Qd5, and it was losing once Ne5 came into play. At this point, it was game over since they had no other choice but to drop a piece and later on drop a queen in the game.

2nd is a nice finish for me. Until the next round and final round next Friday.
