Dear Chessfriends,
in round 7 we were 10 players including 6(!) new to this tournament! It was also the so far highest rated round with a record average rating of 1928 (so far the average of the previous rounds was 1760,3)!
At the end could again succeed - congratulations! He won all games except for the one against myself, where I was completely lost and in time pressure
overlooked a check mate. So by this I was able to gain the 2nd place despite this strong field. On the third spot was, very close,
(skzap) with the same no. of points and tie break, but I could win the direct match. Also 4 points could be gained by
(Jeanjarrgh), but a lower tie break score in this Swiss mode made the difference - good 4th place for him.
(zulukill) could get the 5th spot, who signed up on Lichess only today, but played quite strong as well!
Next is yet another one new to this tournament, but a very well known opponent from many Steemchess games, (Foxconn_Mars). The remaining field was not that lucky today,
(drak0nb) came late and missed the first rounds, also
apparently was distracted and had to leave early.
The games of this round can be found here, in case you want to replay some of them.
Season 1: 03 April to 05 Jun 2020 / Standing after 7 Rounds
Doc-holliday and clinton210 are not ranked until I have a Hive name of them.
No changes in the first 3 ranks, still defends his first place easily, but the distance is not that big. In order to win the season it seems he needs to stay engaged.
could also defend his 3rd rank despite for the first time not scoring.
(drak0nb) could overtake
(due to the better average tournament performance) and is now 4th. Both have still a chance to make it into the Top 3!
By the way, in case two players end up with the same number of points after the 10 rounds, the one who played less rounds is first (he achieved more points per round). If both have played the same number of rounds, then the average tournament performance makes the difference. The other rules you can look up in the weekly announcement and reminder posts.
3 rounds to go and the price pool rises constantly! Keep playing to increase your chances!
How did you like the Swiss Tournament mode?
I liked it a lot, but please let me know in the comments, if you want this mode more often!
See you next time and keep practising!
