Till today I still thank God for helping me to end sports betting because it almost ended my life. Addiction is one of the evils that can happen to anyone. People are addicted to many things but in my case, I was addicted to sports betting.
This might sound strange to some since I am a lady and many people think that sports betting is mainly for men. I know the majority of people who bet are men, but women also engage in sports betting.
I was introduced to gambling by a close friend of mine. At first, I engaged in it for fun and not to make money from it. After a long time, it degenerated into an avenue to make money from. As a result of this, I lost so much money and in a bid to recover, I keep losing more.
It became dangerous when I borrowed to bet. Every penny that entered my account was not used for anything but betting. Every other project was paused, and the money was pushed into betting. It got so bad that it affected my emotions. I drifted into constant sadness and withdrawal. I usually get lost in thought whenever I am alone or with people.
Moreover, at some point, I contemplated suicide whenever I lost money. At this point, I realised that I was dying gradually. I couldn't eat well, and I couldn't get a new dress for myself. I couldn't pay some of my bills. My house rent was affected.
When I discovered this, I suddenly ended it all. I made a decision never to get myself involved in anything sport Betting. I closed my account on all betting sites, I uninstalled those apps, and in a short while, my life went back to normal. I became happy and restored.
Today, when I look back at those years, I regret making such a decision to start sports betting and how it destroyed my life. It doesn't matter how far you've gone into any addiction. You can get out of it. It's just a decision to end it. You can end it and get your life back on track. Addiction is a distraction and a timely killer.
I am calling on ,
