Channel 5 is launching a new reality show called Trading Places, inspired by the classic Eddie Murphy film of the same name.
In the show, two people with very different lives will switch places. For example, a banker might try life as a farmer, or a ballerina might work on an oil rig. They won’t just swap jobs, they’ll live in each other’s homes, take up their hobbies, and spend time with each other’s friends and families.
The show is based on the 1983 movie Trading Places, where Eddie Murphy plays a homeless man who switches lives with a rich stockbroker, played by Dan Aykroyd.
A TV insider says the show has a retro feel, a bit like Wife Swap or Faking It from the early 2000s, but with more competition. Each person will try to succeed in the other’s world.
