Heyyy Anime Fans, yeah, let’s talk about ERASED., because this particular anime really caught me off guard when I saw it.
I didn’t go into Erased expecting too much. It is a short anime, it is just 12 episodes, and I thought it would be one of those anime that I will just say "let me just see what this is about” kind of anime, but somewhere between the first few episodes, I realized I was already hooked, I mean proper hooked , the kind where you tell yourself one more episode and then suddenly it is very late.
Story & Review.
This story follows Satoru, a grown man who somehow gets sent back into his childhood whenever something bad is about to happen, so at first, the time travel thing feels simple, like a simple thing, but the deeper the story goes, the heavier it becomes, being stuck in a child’s body with an adult mind is not easy, especially when you start realizing how many things you missed back then.
What really stood out to me was how emotional this anime is without trying too hard, It is not screaming feel something! at you, but you just end up feeling everything anyway, there is this quiet sadness that follows the story, especially when it focuses on the kids, you see how lonely some of them are, how neglected, how invisible, and it hurts because you know how fragile children can be.
Satoru’s relationship with the people around him is also very touching, His mother? Top tier, that woman is one of the best anime moms, no debate, the way she supports him, trusts him, and loves him quietly just adds so much depth to the story, his friendships as a kid also feel very real awkward, innocent, and pure.
The suspense in Erased is also another thing, just every episode ends in a way that makes you want to keep going, there is always this feeling that time is running out, that one wrong move could ruin everything, the anime does a good job building tension without needing too much action.
I also liked how the story focuses on choices, small decisions, tiny acts of kindness, just being there for someone all of that matters , Erased really shows how one person choosing to care can change an entire future , It is really one of those anime that makes you think about your own life a bit.
The pacing is pretty solid for a short series, nothing feels too dragged out, and nothing feels rushed , every episode has a purpose, even when the story slows down, it doesn’t feel boring, just thoughtful.
If I had to point out anything, some people might not love how everything ends, but personally, I didn’t hate it, It felt realistic in its own way, Not everything wraps up perfectly in real life, and this anime kind of understands that.
Overall, Erased is one of those anime that proves you don’t need hundreds of episodes to tell a powerful story, it is emotional, suspenseful, and very human, If you want something short but meaningful, something that stays in your head even after you are done watching, then this is definitely worth your time.
Honestly, it is the kind of anime you finish and then just sit there for a moment, thinking, and that alone just says a lot.
