0 - Dragon Ball
I will start from a special mention, an anime that for me is very special since I have been growing with it. And of course, what else could it be if not Dragon Ball.

Dragon Ball is out of my list since I believe that this anime is nowadays part of the culture of our society, it is so famous that it is not even comparable with any other anime that I have ever seen.
I love the adventure of Goku and his friends, but I also know that this anime has a lot of problems and the story in itself is very simple. There is a continuous pattern through all the episodes, a new challenging enemy comes to fight against our heroes and every time it is slightly stronger than the previous ones. Then, after a first period of struggling, a new transformation, technique or a fusion between two characters comes in hand and so Goku mainly or some other secondary character can save the day.
I know this, but still I am so affectioned to the characters of the series that my judgment it's too biased š
.
Sidenote: my list includes only completed anime.
So, now I can start my personal ranking:
1 - Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Source
My favorite anime of all time. I have seen it three times from the beginning and every time I am not able to stop watching it.
Plot: The two Elric brothers are two alchemist who tried to perform the greatest tabu in alchemy: resurrect a dead person, their mother actually. In doing so, the younger brother Alphonse, loses its entire body, and the older one - Edward - in order to save at least the soul of its brother by linking it to an armor, sacrifices an arm and leg.
The two brothers then start a long journey in order to recover their bodies, in which they will find that something really strange is happening in their country.Pros: FMA:Brotherhood has it all, amazing fights, great characters and above all a depth of themes and contents that I have never seen in any other anime. Every episodes is well built and there are no downtimes (yeah Eichiro Oda you understood correctly). Moreover it is also one of the few anime that has no ecchi (erotic) contents (probably the fact that it was drawn by a woman helps in this case š ). The only woman which is represented in an erotic outfit is Lust, which represents the human sin and couldn't be represented in any other way.
Cons: I sincerely don't think that this anime has any defects, I would like to say that it is too short, but even that it is not true. Perfection
2 - Cowboy Bebop
Source
Plot: Two space bounty hunters (also referred as Space Cowboys) try to survive by chasing criminals and bringing them in alive in return for a reward. During some of their adventures they encounter a woman, a girl and a dog that become part of their crew.
Pros: An amazing soundtrack is the setting of the adventures of our characters. Spike, the main character and its crew are complex and complicated individuals, each one with its history and issues that try to survive through their respective complicated lives.
I find it really difficult to write something about this anime, which probably is the main reason why it is so fascinating, it is a really life experience which you need to savor on your own in order to get the beauty and dept. The last episode moreover is a truly masterpiece and probably the best single episode of all times.Cons : The only thing that comes to my mind is that the secondary characters history could have been described in a little more detail, but probably leaving this aura of mystery is also one of the reason why the anime is so fascinating.
3 - Death Note
Source
Plot: A bored Shinigami (death god) decides to let its death note fall on the Earth. A young and brilliant high school student finds it and discovers that by writing the name of a person on it (and by having clear in mind its face), this person will die after some moments. Then he decides to use this unexpected supernatural power to create a better world (at least in its view). Of course not everyone agrees with him and the police helped by a brilliant investigator tries to stop him.
Pros: The two main characters of the first part (Light Yagami and L) are two of the most iconic characters in the history of anime. Their strange relationship of friends/enimies is really amazing, and when you watch the anime you have to choose on which side you want to line up on (I hope L š ). The main thing that I love about this anime is how it deals with a really complicated subject as homicide related to the concept of justice. If you had the power to kill all evil people in the world, would you do it? If yes, how would you decide who is evil and who isn't? And above all, killing others wouldn't make you the bad guy at the end?
All these are the themes which are treated masterfully in this anime, providing very different points of view.Cons: Unfortunately the anime is divided in two parts, and the second part is not even close to the level of the first one. If Death note would have been concluded with episode 25, it would have been for sure in the first place togheter with FMA, but unfortunately it isn't so and for this reason it gets the bronze medal.
