Hey everyone
I just watched the teaser trailer for Pixar is upcoming movie Elio and I have to say… I am really excited for this one. I know Pixar movies always bring something special but this teaser felt different in the best way possible. If you have not checked it out yet do yourself a favor and hit play. Trust me it is worth the watch.
So let is dive in.
First Impressions
Right off the bat Elio does not feel like your typical Pixar film. I mean yes there is the classic heartwarming vibe that they always nail but the whole intergalactic twist really caught my attention. The visuals alone are stunning no surprise there but it is the story concept that is got me hooked.
From what I can gather Elio is about this shy artistic kid who somehow gets mistaken for Earth is ambassador by aliens. And honestly? I LOVE that idea. The thought of a quiet introverted child being thrown into this cosmic adventure feels so refreshing. I have always been a fan of stories where the unlikely hero takes center stage and this looks like it is leaning heavily into that.
I could not help but laugh when Elio is just standing there awkwardly trying to process what is happening. It is such a relatable moment like when you accidentally volunteer for something and immediately regret it. 😂
Elio as a Character
Elio already feels like the kind of character I shall connect with. He is not some super confident larger than life protagonist and I appreciate that. Sometimes it is nice to see someone a little more vulnerable lead the charge. Based on the trailer it looks like Elio has this quiet curiosity about the world and now the galaxy which feels super genuine.
One thing that really stood out is how expressive Elio is. Even without saying much you can tell exactly what is going through his head. Pixar always crushes it when it comes to non verbal storytelling and this teaser was no exception.
I am also curious to see how his relationship with his mom plays into everything. There were a few glimpses of her in the teaser and she seems like a pretty strong supportive character. Something about their dynamic feels like it is going to be a big part of the emotional core and I am here for it.
The Alien 👽 World
Okay can we talk about the alien designs for a second? They are so fun and unique It kind of reminded me of Inside Out with all the vibrant imaginative character designs. The aliens seem weird and wacky but not in a scary way more like quirky and endearing. That balance is something Pixar does so well.
I also love how the alien world is not your typical dark and gritty outer space setting. Instead it is bright colorful and full of life. It really gives the sense that this is not going to be some heavy intense sci fi film but rather something playful and adventurous.
Themes I am Hoping For
If there is one thing I know about Pixar it is that they will make me cry at least once during this movie. They just can not help themselves. But honestly that is part of the magic. Elio looks like it is going to touch on themes of self discovery belonging and stepping out of your comfort zone all things I think a lot of us can relate to.
I also have a feeling this movie will explore the idea of how even the quietest voices can have a big impact. Elio might not start off as the typical leader but I bet by the end he will prove that kindness and empathy can be just as powerful as bravery.
Why I am Excited
I have always had a soft spot for animated films that go beyond just entertaining kids. Pixar has this incredible way of blending humor heart and deep messages and Elio seems like it is going to follow that tradition. Plus I am a sucker for stories about space and aliens so that is just the cherry on top.
It is also worth mentioning that Elio feels like a bit of a creative risk for Pixar. While it still has that family friendly vibe the concept feels fresh and different from their usual formula. And honestly I am all for it. Sometimes the best stories come from stepping outside the norm and I am really curious to see how this one unfolds.
Final Thoughts
I know it is just a teaser but Elio already feels like it is going to be something special. The blend of humor heart and cosmic adventure ticks all the right boxes for me. If you are a fan of Pixar or just love a good underdog story. I think this one should definitely be on your radar.
