I have watched so many anime but the truth is, one can never get over their first anime or the show that made them love anime. Growing up, I was never a fan of anime but I was a fan of animated movies or series. I had a cousin who loved of anime and his favorite was Naruto. We would always argue about Naruto being able to defeat Superman, and I was against such a thought.
After years of persuasion, I finally gave in, and then I asked him for a site where I could download anime, and he gave me AnimePahe. I went to the site and typed "anime," and the first series that came up was "Akame Ga Kill."
I have watched many anime movies and series, whose titles I have forgotten, and some of them, I don't remember their characters, but you see, Akame Ga Kill, I can never forget because this was the anime that sparked the fire of anime in me.
"Akame Ga Kill" is a dark fantasy anime that follows the story of Tatsumi, a young fighter who travels to the Capital to raise money for his village. Tatsumi was very innocent and he got tricked by some rich folks who took him in to care for him and help him during his journey to help his village but little did he know that these rich folks had the fantasy of torturing people till they died.
However, the night the capital's most feared assassins arrived at the rich folks home, Tatsumi tried to fight them off because he felt indebted to the rich folks until the assassins showed him the true color of the folks and that was how he found himself joining a group of assassins known as Night Raid, who aim to take down the corrupt Empire from within.
What made "Akame Ga Kill" so interesting to me was that, the year I watched it, there was war going on between two countries, like we have Israel and Iran now. Akame Ga Kill showed the two sides of the people fighting and they both had a justified reason for fighting. One side is fighting for the people and trying to save the majority from the oppression of the people controlling the capital, while the other party is fighting to protect the capital when they don't know the dirty secret of the capital; they were just trying to do their duty. During the line of doing their duty, the Night Raiders killed some of their friends, and the battle turned from good and evil to a battle of revenge.
The first episode was what hooked me, and I was immediately drawn to the world of "Akame Ga Kill." The animation was stunning, with vibrant colors and intense fight scenes. The characters' designs were also noteworthy, with each one having a distinct and memorable appearance.
In the end, both sides lost a good amount of people, characters you would have grown to love and people with a very sad background story. The character development is better than many other anime I have watched, even though it was just one season with 24 episodes.
You are looking for anime to watch to keep you on your seat, make you emotional, and change the way you see the world. You would love it, and I would rate it a solid 9/10.
