Hello everyone, dear community of The Anime Realm, my fellow otakus. This time, I want to share my thoughts on an anime that has become a classic. It's very well-known; it came out a while ago but made a huge comeback a few years ago. I'm talking about: Blue Exorcist, or well, Ao no Exorcist, as I first knew it. It's one of those series that seems like one thing at first, but when you get into it... wow, you discover there's so much more. Right off the bat, what hooks you, what blows your mind, is the premise, which is sheer genius. Picture this: our protagonist, Rin Okumura, is this kid who's a complete disaster, always getting into fights, can't hold down a job, and people label him a monster, a freak... but deep down, the guy has a very good heart. You see it crystal clear in the first episode when he jumps into a fight to defend some birds without a second thought.
He doesn't look for trouble, but trouble seems to find him. He's the classic misunderstood character hiding a brutal power. And what is that power? Man, this is where it gets good. It turns out that all that strength and uncontrollable fury have a... rather unique origin: Rin is the son of Satan. Yes, you heard that right, the son of the king of demons himself. When this secret explodes in the most tragic way, with the death of Father Fujimoto—the exorcist who raised him and the only father figure he ever knew—Rin makes a decision that changes everything. Instead of accepting his demonic destiny, he unsheathes a sword that sealed his powers and, with the blue flames of his infernal heritage blazing, declares war on his own father. His goal? To enroll in the True Cross Academy to become an exorcist and kick Satan's ass. It's completely insane! I mean, the idea of the devil's son wanting to be the weapon that destroys him... that's where all the series' strength and conflict come from. It's simply brilliant.
Hola a todos, querida comunidad de The Anime Realm, amigos otakus, en esta ocasión les quiero hablar de mis opiniones sobre un anime se ha vuelto uno de los clásicos, es muy conocido, ya hace un tiempo salió pero hace unos pocos años volvio por todo lo alto, se trata de: Blue Exorcist, o bueno, Ao no Exorcist, como lo conocà yo en su momento.. es de esas series que de entrada parecen una cosa, pero cuando te metes… uff, descubres que hay muchÃsimo más.. de entrada, lo que te engancha, lo que te vuela la cabeza, es la premisa, que es una genialidad. ImagÃnense el panorama: nuestro prota, Rin Okumura, es este chico que es un completo desastre, se la vive metido en peleas, no le dura ningún trabajo, la gente lo tacha de monstruo, de loco.. pero en el fondo, el tipo tiene un corazón muy bueno, lo ves clarÃsimo en el primer capÃtulo, cuando se va a golpes para defender a unos pájaros sin dudarlo un segundo.
Él no busca los problemas, pero parece que los problemas lo encuentran a él.. es el clásico incomprendido que esconde un poder brutal.. cuál es ese poder? Uff, aquà es donde se pone bueno, resulta que toda esa fuerza y esa furia que no puede controlar tienen un origen… bastante particular: Rin es el hijo de Satán.. sÃ, asà como lo oyen, el hijo del mero mero rey de los demonios.. cuando este secreto explota de la forma más trágica, con la muerte del Padre Fujimoto, el exorcista que lo crio y la única figura paterna que conoció, Rin toma una decisión que lo cambia todo. En lugar de aceptar su destino demonÃaco, saca una espada que sellaba sus poderes y, con las llamas azules de su herencia infernal a todo lo que dan, le declara la guerra a su propio padre.. su meta? Inscribirse en la Academia de la Cruz para convertirse en un exorcista y patearle el trasero a Satán.. es una completa locura! O sea, la idea de que el hijo del diablo quiera ser el arma para destruirlo... es que de ahà nace toda la fuerza y todo el conflicto de la serie, es simplemente brillante.
But if you think this is all just fights and explosions, you're dead wrong. The series delves deep into the emotional turmoil of being Rin. As his powers start to manifest—the tail, the pointed ears, the fangs—he himself begins to feel... like he's not so human anymore. It's a really, really tough internal struggle. The series touches on themes that, man, hit home for all of us: loneliness, the courage to feel like the odd one out, that frustration of not fitting in anywhere, and the desire to find your place. I mean, who hasn't felt that way? That's why you connect so deeply with Rin, because even though it's all fantasy, his struggle feels super real. Amidst all that chaos, the figure of his adoptive father, Shiro Fujimoto, is key.
The guy is in the series for a short time, but his ghost, his teachings, are the anchor that keeps Rin tied to his humanity. Shiro was the one who taught him what's right and wrong, his moral compass, and it's his memory that fuels Rin's decision to become an exorcist. That father-son relationship is beautiful and truly heartbreaking. And then, wow, there's the relationship with his twin brother, Yukio. They are like oil and water. Rin is all impulse, a disaster at his studies, while Yukio is the responsible one, the brainiac... and, to everyone's surprise, especially Rin's, it turns out he's already a high-ranking exorcist and even his teacher at the academy. This dynamic is genius. It's not the typical contrast for cheap laughs, not at all. There's an underlying tension, a really complex "I'm protecting you, but I feel inferior to you" vibe that is constantly evolving. Yukio lived his whole life seeing demons and feeling weak, while Rin, without knowing it,
Pero si creen que esto es pura pelea y explosiones, están bien equivocados.. la serie se mete bien adentro, en todo el desmadre emocional que es ser Rin, conforme le van saliendo sus poderes –la cola, las orejas puntiagudas, los colmillos–, él mismo empieza a sentir que… que ya no es tan humano. Es una lucha interna bien, bien cabrona.. la serie toca temas que, pff, a todos nos pegan: la soledad, el coraje de sentirte el bicho raro, esa frustración de no encajar en ningún lado y las ganas de encontrar tu lugar.. o sea, ¿quién no se ha sentido asÃ? Por eso conectas tan cañón con Rin, porque aunque todo sea fantasÃa, su bronca se siente súper real, en medio de todo ese caos, la figura de su padre adoptivo, Shiro Fujimoto, es clave.
El tipo sale poquito tiempo en la serie, pero su fantasma, sus enseñanzas, son el ancla que mantiene a Rin pegado a su humanidad, Shiro fue el que le enseñó qué onda con el bien y el mal, su brújula moral, y es su recuerdo lo que alimenta la decisión de Rin de ser exorcista.. esa relación de padre e hijo es hermosa y te rompe el corazón, neta. Y luego, ¡pff!, está la relación con su hermano gemelo, Yukio, son como el agua y el aceite, Rin es puro impulso, un desastre para los estudios, mientras que Yukio es el responsable, el cerebrito… y, para sorpresa de todos, ¡especialmente de Rin!, resulta que ya es un exorcista de alto rango y hasta su maestro en la academia. Y esta dinámica es una genialidad.. no es el tÃpico contraste para hacer chistes, para nada, hay una tensión debajo, un rollo bien complejo de "te protejo, pero me siento menos que tú" que va cambiando todo el tiempo. Yukio vivió toda su vida viendo demonios y sintiéndose el débil, mientras Rin, sin saberlo, tenÃa un poder abrumador, su relación es, fácil, uno de los motores emocionales más potentes de toda la historia.
And the rest of the cast, I really liked them; they managed to make them feel like more than just filler, you know? You've got Ryuji Suguro, who everyone calls "Bon," who starts off as Rin's direct rival. He's a brainiac, a bit arrogant, and has a super powerful personal reason for wanting to beat the crap out of Satan, which clashes directly with the mere fact that Rin exists. Watching him go from enemy to friend is interesting. Then there's the oddball Izumo Kamiki, a super sarcastic and distant girl who comes from a family of shrine maidens and hides all her insecurities behind an "I'm better than everyone" attitude. Plus, in the more recent seasons, we discover a lot about her past and secrets. And they're all like that; each of Rin's classmates has their own story, their own dramas, and their own reasons for being there, and the series takes the time to tell us about them.
And don't even get me started on the academy's director, the incredibly mysterious Mephisto Pheles. This guy is a demon, one of the demon kings, and yet he runs a school for exorcists. He's a total enigma, always playing his own game, and you never know if you can trust him. He's a key piece that adds a ton of mystery and intrigue to everything. Alongside him, we have people like Shura Kirigakure, Rin's mentor, a top-tier exorcist working undercover who brings a super fun energy to the story. Now, let's talk about the visuals. For a 2011 anime, Blue Exorcist looks gorgeous. It's an anime drawn with a lot of love. It has a very distinct character design style that really stands out. Back then, studios really went all out to be original; you didn't feel that "copy-paste" vibe we sometimes see today. The designs are unforgettable, the characters' expressions are full of life, and the backgrounds have brutal detail. And the fights... man, what fights! They're great. Rin's blue flames, the effects, the fight choreography... it all pulls you right into the story.
Y es que el resto del elenco, me gustó mucho, se las arreglaron para que no se sintiera solo relleno, ¿saben? Ahà tienes a Ryuji Suguro, al que todos le dicen "Bon", que arranca como el rival directo de Rin.. es un cerebrito, medio arrogante, y con una razón personal súper poderosa para querer madrearse a Satán, lo que choca de frente con el simple hecho de que Rin exista.. ver cómo pasa de ser su enemigo a su amigo es interesante.. luego está la rarita de Izumo Kamiki, una chica súper sarcástica y distante que viene de una familia de sacerdotisas y que esconde todas sus inseguridades detrás de una actitud de "soy mejor que todos", además más adelante en las más recientes temporadas descubrimos mucho sobre su pasado y sus secretos, y asà son todos, cada uno de los compañeros de Rin tiene su propia historia, sus propios dramas y sus razones para estar ahÃ, y la serie se toma el tiempo de contárnoslo.
Y ni se diga del director de la academia, el misteriosÃsimo Mephisto Pheles.. este tipo es un demonio, ¡uno de los reyes demonio!, y aún asà dirige una escuela de exorcistas.. es una caja de sorpresas, siempre anda en su propio juego y nunca sabes si puedes fiarte de él.. es una pieza clave que le mete un montón de misterio e intriga a todo. Junto a él, tenemos a gente como Shura Kirigakure, la mentora de Rin, una exorcista de primer nivel que anda de incógnito y que le mete una energÃa súper divertida a la historia. Ahora, a ver, hablemos de cómo se ve.. para ser un anime de 2011, Blue Exorcist se ve de lujo, es un anime que está dibujado con un cariño.. tiene un estilo de diseño de personajes súper propio, que resalta un montón. En esa época, los estudios de verdad se la rifaban por ser originales, no se sentÃa ese "copy-paste" que a veces vemos hoy, los diseños son inolvidables, las caras que ponen los personajes están llenas de vida y los fondos tienen un detalle brutal, las peleas... ¡uf, qué peleas! Son buenas, las llamas azules de Rin, los efectos, la coreografÃa de los madrazos... todo hace que te metas en la historia.
The music, people! The music... is on another level. The soundtrack is a gem, and the first and second openings, man, are absolute bangers that you NEVER skip. They get you pumped, build up all the hype for what you're about to see, they genuinely get you excited. The endings, as was common back then, are calmer, perfect for closing out the episode and leaving you thinking, with that "darn, have to wait for next week" feeling. One of the things I love most is that the series isn't your typical "fight, power-up, next enemy" shonen. Not at all! The plot gets really dense: there are betrayals, people getting hurt when you least expect it, even a holy war in the mix. I love how the line between good and bad gets super blurry, to the point where there are demons who ally with exorcists. It's not just mindless fighting.
The series takes its pauses, and although it might feel slower at times, it's because it's a slow burn, building up the characters' stories so that every action, every punch, has a reason behind it. It's not just battle after battle; here, they really tell you a story with real depth. Look, if I had to give it a score, I'd give it a solid 9/10. The characters, the world, the visuals, the music, and the heart this story has are worth everything and more. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes action shonen but is also looking for something with more substance. The latest season shows us the past, how Rin and his brother were born, and it was really emotional and super interesting. If you like stories that hit you right in the feels, that mix everyday life with supernatural action, you're going to love it. It's ideal for fans of exorcist stories, and well... that's it for today's review, take care everyone! Byebye!
La música, gente! La música... es otro boleto.. la banda sonora es una joya, y el primer y segundo opening, ¡pff!, es un temazo de esos que no te saltas NUNCA, te prende, te mete todo el hype para lo que vas a ver, te emociona de verdad.. los endings, como se usaba mucho en ese entonces, son más tranquilos, perfectos para cerrar el capÃtulo y dejarte pensando, con esa sensación de "ay, a esperar la próxima semana".. una de las cosas que más me encantan es que la serie no es el tÃpico shonen de "pelea, power-up, siguiente enemigo". ¡Para nada! La trama se pone bien densa: hay traiciones, gente que sale herida cuando menos te lo esperas, hasta una guerra santa de por medio, me fascina que la lÃnea entre buenos y malos se borra un montón, al punto de que hay demonios que se alÃan con los exorcistas.. no es pura pelea a lo tonto.
La serie se toma sus pausas, y aunque a veces se sienta más lenta, es porque está cocinando algo a fuego lento, está construyendo la historia de los personajes para que cada acción, cada madrazo, tenga un porqué, no es solo batalla tras batalla, aquà de verdad te cuentan una historia con un fondo bien chido. A ver, si le tuviera que poner calificación, yo le doy un 9/10, bien puesto. Los personajes, el mundo, cómo se ve, la música y el corazón que tiene esta historia lo valen todo y más.. se las recomiendo a morir a cualquiera que le gusten los shonen de peleas, pero que también busque algo con más carnita, la última temporada nos muestra el pasado, como nació Rin y su hermano, y realmente fue emotivo y súper interesante.. si te gustan las historias que te pegan en el cora, que mezclan el dÃa a dÃa con acción sobrenatural, te va a fascinar, es ideal para los fans de las historias de exorcistas, y bueno.. hasta aquà la reseña de hoy, cuidense mucho!
