Hello everyone, fellow fans of good stories, I hope you're doing great today. On this occasion, I want to bring you a new review with my opinions. I just finished Terminator Zero on Netflix. Now, let's be honest... when you heard they were making a Terminator anime, what was the first thing you thought? If you're like me, it was probably a sigh of "ugh, are we doing this again?" I mean, come on, the history of American franchises becoming anime... they almost always screw it up, to be generous. We already saw what they did with the Suicide Squad Isekai, which... meh, it wasn't awful, but it wasn't anything special either, right? It was just okay. So when they announced this Terminator Zero project, I went in with zero faith, honestly. The trailers came out and didn't convince me much either; they looked good, yes, but that's it, nothing spectacular. My expectations were rock bottom, buried under the rubble of my faith in the franchise.

But friends... MY GOD, was I wrong! It makes me so happy to be able to sit here and tell you that I had to eat all my words, every single one! This anime isn't just "good for an adaptation"... it's not a "it's decent" and that's it. No, this is a true gem, it's incredibly good. Look, I'm going to say something that will sound bold, but I'm not just saying it: this is the best thing to happen to the Terminator franchise since Terminator 2. Yes, you heard that right. I'm putting it on that level. After decades of pathetic sequels, reboots nobody understood, and movies that just didn't land, this anime comes out of nowhere and BAM!, it reminds me why the hell I fell in love with this universe. Outside of Terminator 2, this is the best thing they've done with the saga. Period.

Hola a todos, amigos fanáticos de las buenas historias, espero que estén super bien hoy, en esta ocasión, les quiero traer una nueva reseña con mis opiniones, acabo de terminar Terminator Zero en Netflix, ahora, seamos honestos.. cuando ustedes escucharon que iban a hacer un anime de Terminator, ¿qué fue lo primero que pensaron? Si son como yo, seguro fue un suspiro de “ufff, ¿otra vez con lo mismo?”.. es que, a ver, la historia de las franquicias gringas que se vuelven anime… casi siempre la cagan, seamos generosos, ya vimos lo que hicieron con el Isekai de Suicide Squad, que… meh, no estuvo horrible, pero tampoco fue la gran cosa, ¿no? Estuvo equis. Así que cuando anunciaron este proyecto de Terminator Zero, yo ya iba con cero fe, la verdad.. salieron los tráilers y tampoco me convencieron mucho, se veían bien, sí, pero hasta ahí, nada espectacular.. mis expectativas estaban por el subsuelo, enterradas bajo los escombros de mi fe en la franquicia.

Pero amigos… ¡DIOS MÍO, qué equivocado que estaba! Qué felicidad me da poder sentarme acá y decirles que me tragué todas mis palabras, ¡todas! Este anime no es solo “bueno para ser una adaptación”.. no es un “está decente” y ya, no, esto es una verdadera joya, es increíblemente bueno.. miren, voy a soltar algo que va a sonar fuerte, pero no lo digo por decir: esto es lo mejor que le ha pasado a la franquicia de Terminator desde Terminator 2. Sí, así como lo oyen.. lo pongo a ese nivel, después de décadas de secuelas que daban pena, reboots que nadie entendió y películas que nomás no pegaron, llega este anime de la nada y ¡PUM!, me recuerda por qué carajos me enamoré de este universo.. fuera de Terminator 2, esta es la mejor cosa que han hecho con la saga. Punto.

So, what makes it so special? How the hell did they pull it off? Well, for me, the key is that they managed to do something new with a formula we already know by heart. And that, people, is one of the hardest things to do in Hollywood, let alone with a franchise as iconic and, let's be honest, as milked as this one. We all know the story, right? Skynet goes crazy, sends a Terminator to the past, the resistance sends a protector, and so on. It's the same old song, but this series does something brilliant. It manages to take the entire concept of Terminator, respecting what we already love, but tells you a completely new, fresh story. It feels familiar, but at the same time, it's something you've never seen before.

And the heart of it all, what truly makes it amazing, is the story. The script, the plot, are the real stars. It's insane how good it is. The series is like a great mystery that assembles itself piece by piece, in an incredible way, throughout its eight episodes. It doesn't just vomit all the information at you at once; it gives you puzzle pieces, making you doubt everything you thought you knew about the Terminator universe. And of course, the central theme is the whole time travel business. That's where so many sequels and sci-fi films screw up; they get tangled in their own logic and paradoxes. But here, the way they handle time travel is impressive and, most importantly, it all makes sense. It's explained very well. You never feel lost or like the writers are making up the rules as they go. They set their rules from the beginning and stick to them religiously, which is why everything feels so solid and captivating. This leads me to another incredible thing they achieved.

Remember the timeline mess that the movies are? Salvation, Genisys, Dark Fate... each one seems to be in its own universe, contradicting the previous one. Well, this anime, somehow, feels like it managed to take all that chaos from the movies and make it make sense. It's as if it was designed to connect all the films, accepting that the mess exists. It dives right into the problem of time travel and the creation of alternate futures. It doesn't try to erase the other movies, no! On the contrary, it gives you a bigger picture—a multiverse, if you want to call it that—where all those timelines can coexist. Basically, it brought order to the clusterfuck the movies had made, and I swear, I never in my life thought that was possible. This opens the door to a world of possibilities for more stories, whether in anime or even live-action. The people making the movies should be watching this and taking notes, right now.

Entonces, ¿qué es lo que la hace tan especial? ¿Cómo carajos lo lograron? Bueno, para mí, el chiste es que consiguieron hacer algo nuevo con una fórmula que ya nos sabemos de memoria.. y eso, gente, es de las cosas más difíciles en Hollywood, y ni se diga con una franquicia tan icónica y, seamos honestos, tan ordeñada como esta, ya todos nos sabemos el cuento, ¿no? Skynet se vuelve loca, manda un Terminator al pasado, la resistencia manda a un protector, y así nos vamos.. es la misma canción de siempre, pero esta serie hace algo brillante.. logra agarrar todo el concepto de Terminator, respetando lo que ya amamos, pero te cuenta una historia completamente nueva, una historia fresca, se siente familiar, pero al mismo tiempo es algo que nunca has visto.

Y es que el corazón de todo esto, lo que la rompe de verdad, es la historia.. el guion, la trama, son las verdaderas estrellas, es una locura lo bien que está, la serie es como un gran misterio que se va armando poquito a poco, de una forma increíble, a lo largo de sus ocho episodios.. no te vomita toda la información de golpe, te va dando piecitas del rompecabezas, haciendo que dudes de todo lo que creías saber sobre el universo de Terminator. Y claro, el tema central es todo el rollo de los viajes en el tiempo.. ahí es donde tantas secuelas y películas de ciencia ficción la cagan, se hacen un nudo con su propia lógica y sus paradojas, pero acá, la manera en que manejan los viajes en el tiempo es impresionante y, lo más importante, todo tiene sentido, te lo explican súper bien. Nunca te sientes perdido o como que los guionistas se están inventando las reglas sobre la marcha.. ponen sus reglas desde el inicio y las respetan a rajatabla, y por eso todo se siente tan sólido y te atrapa.. esto me lleva a otra cosa increíble que lograron.

Se acuerdan del desmadre de líneas de tiempo que son las películas? Salvation, Génesis, Dark Fate... cada una parece que está en su propio universo, contradiciendo a la anterior.. pues este anime, de alguna forma, se siente como si hubiera logrado agarrar todo ese caos de las películas y hacerlo tener sentido, es como si estuviera diseñado para conectar todas las películas, aceptando que el desorden existe. Se mete de lleno en el problema de los viajes en el tiempo y la creación de futuros alternativos.. no intenta borrar las otras películas, ¡no! Al contrario, te da un panorama más grande —un multiverso, si le quieren llamar así— donde all esas líneas de tiempo pueden existir juntas, básicamente, le puso orden al cagadero que habían hecho las películas, y yo, se los juro, jamás en la vida pensé que eso fuera posible. Esto abre la puerta a un mundo de posibilidades para más historias, ya sea en anime o incluso en live-action.. los que hacen las películas deberían estar viendo esto y tomando notas, pero ya.

But look, a good plot is nothing without good characters, and here, people, Terminator Zero does a damn good job. It's filled with characters who are super interesting, well-written, a mix of humans and androids who feel real, who have their own issues. To start, the protagonist isn't another Connor. No, here we have a soldier named Eiko, and she's not just your typical super-tough warrior. You feel all the pressure she carries, the weight of the mission, but she's also full of doubts; her past haunts her. You really connect with her struggle, it's very personal. And the others, from the scientist Malcolm Lee, who's a genius but is completely overwhelmed, to his children... they all have a purpose, they have depth. They aren't just there as props to move the story forward; they are the soul of the series.

And this series, people, has soul to spare. It doesn't just settle for being an action and sci-fi show; it gets really philosophical, metaphysical, it's not afraid to. It explores the relationship between humans and machines in a way the saga hasn't since T2. It throws some heavy-hitting questions at you, about free will, about self-discovery. It makes you wonder if humanity, with all our mess, really deserves to be saved or if it's time for us to be wiped off the map. This whole philosophical idea is perfectly summed up in the concept of Kokoro, which is the new AI at the center of everything.

The series explains that 'Kokoro' in Japanese is a super complex word; it's not just 'heart,' it's like 'soul, mind, and spirit,' all together. This isn't just a fun fact; it's the key to the entire plot. Visually, they show it to you as three distinct beings that merge to become a kind of... I don't know, like an 'AI Goddess.' And this entity literally holds the fate of humanity in its hands. Its whole journey to understand what it means to be human—or even something more than human—is what hooks you the most about the series. It's a 'villain,' if you can even call it that, with far more nuances, much more interesting than Skynet ever was.

Pero a ver, una buena trama no es nada sin buenos personajes, y aquí, gente, Terminator Zero lo hace de puta madre.. está lleno de personajes que son súper interesantes, bien escritos, una mezcla de humanos y androides que se sienten reales, que tienen su propio rollo. Para empezar, la prota no es otra Connor, no, acá tenemos a una soldado que se llama Eiko, y no es la típica guerrera súper ruda y ya.. sientes toda la presión que carga encima; el peso de la misión, pero también está llena de dudas, su pasado la persigue.. de verdad te conectas con su lucha, es algo muy personal. Y los demás, desde el científico este, Malcolm Lee, que es un genio pero está todo abrumado, hasta sus hijos... todos tienen su porqué, tienen profundidad, no están ahí nomás de adorno para que la historia avance; son el alma de la serie.

Y esta serie, gente, tiene alma de sobra.. es que no se queda en ser solo una serie de acción y ciencia ficción, se pone bien filosófica, bien metafísica, no le da miedo, te explora la relación entre los humanos y las máquinas de una forma que la saga no había hecho desde la T2. Te tira unas preguntas bien cabronas, sobre el libre albedrío, sobre conocerse a uno mismo.. te pone a pensar si la humanidad, con todo nuestro desmadre, de verdad merece salvarse o si ya es hora de que nos borren del mapa, toda esta idea filosófica se resume perfectamente en el concepto de Kokoro, que es la nueva IA en el centro de todo.

La serie te explica que ‘Kokoro’ en japonés es una palabra súper compleja; no es solo ‘corazón’, es como ‘alma, mente y espíritu’, todo junto.. esto no es un dato curioso nomás, es la clave de toda la trama, visualmente te lo muestran como tres seres distintos que se van fusionando hasta convertirse en una especie de… no sé, como una ‘Diosa de la Inteligencia Artificial’. Y esta entidad tiene el destino de la humanidad en sus manos, literal.. todo su viaje para entender qué significa ser humano —o incluso algo más que humano— es lo que más te engancha de la serie, es un ‘villano’, si es que se le puede llamar así, con muchísimos más matices, mucho más interesante que lo que Skynet fue en su vida.

Now, hold on, I have to be fair. It's not perfect from minute one. The series starts a bit slow, honestly. The first two or three episodes are kind of a struggle; the story takes its time to put all the pieces in place and doesn't hook you immediately. I'll be honest with you, around the second episode I was like, "Okay... is this all there is?" But please, trust me on this: don't drop it. Hang in there a bit, because once it gets going, once the ship takes off... hold on tight! It's fucking insane. What it gives you in the end is worth every second of the wait.

The last episodes, especially, are spectacular, full of plot twists and revelations that, I swear, I did not see coming. The animation, well, it's from the studio that gave us the legendary Ghost in the Shell, so you can imagine, it's fucking beautiful. The designs are brutal, the action is super fluid, and the world feels alive. But just to show you the level of the script, even with how spectacular it looks, the animation isn't even the most badass part of the show. That's how good the story is. And the best part? You can binge it in no time. It's eight episodes of about 23 minutes without the credits. You can devour it in an afternoon, no problem. We're talking about 3 or 4 hours in total, a little more than a Lord of the Rings movie.

It's a complete story that gets straight to the point, and it leaves you satisfied but at the same time desperately wanting to see more. So, my final verdict? I'm giving Terminator Zero a solid 9.5/10. The only thing keeping it from a perfect 10 is that slightly slow start, which might frustrate some people a bit. But the journey, people, is so worth it. It's an intelligent, mature story that really hits you and not only revives a franchise we had all given up for dead, but takes it to another level. They took a concept I thought was completely tapped out and made it feel necessary again. And well, that's it for today's review, take care! Bye-bye!

Ahora, ojo, tengo que ser justo.. no es perfecta desde el minuto uno, la serie arranca un poquito lenta, la verdad.. los primeros dos o tres capítulos como que te cuestan, la historia se toma su tiempo para poner todas las piezas en su lugar y no te engancha de inmediato, les voy a ser sincero, por ahí del segundo episodio yo ya estaba como “Ok… ¿y esto va a ser todo?”. Pero por favor, háganme caso: no la dejen.. aguántense un poco, porque una vez que la cosa agarra vuelo, cuando la nave despega… ¡agárrense!, es una puta locura, lo que te da al final vale toda la pena del mundo.

Los últimos episodios, en especial, son espectaculares, llenos de giros en la trama y revelaciones que, se los juro, no vi venir.. la animación, pues a ver, es del estudio que nos dio la legendaria Ghost in the Shell, así que ya se imaginarán, es una pinche belleza. Los diseños están brutales, la acción es súper fluida y el mundo se siente vivo, pero para que vean el nivel del guion, con todo y lo espectacular que se ve, la animación ni siquiera es lo más cabrón de la serie.. así de buena es la historia. ¿Y la mejor parte? Que te la echas de volada, son ocho capítulos de unos 23 minutos sin los créditos.. te la puedes devorar en una tarde, sin broncas, estamos hablando de unas 3 o 4 horas en total, poquito más que una película de El Señor de los Anillos.

Es una historia completa, que va al grano, y te deja satisfecho pero al mismo tiempo con unas ganas locas de ver más.. entonces, ¿mi veredicto final? Le doy a Terminator Zero un 9.5/10, bien sólido. Lo único que le quita el 10 perfecto es ese inicio medio lento, que a lo mejor a algunos los va a desesperar un poco.. pero el viaje, gente, vale muchísimo la pena, es una historia inteligente, madura, que de verdad te llega y que no solo revive una franquicia que ya dábamos por muerta, sino que la pone en otro nivel.. agarraron un concepto que yo creía que ya no daba para más y lo hicieron sentir necesario otra vez.. y bueno, hasta aquí la reseña de hoy, cuidense mucho!
