Not so much, I do not usually watch anime of this genre but I can tell you that by retracting what he did it already takes away a lot of merit. I recommend you better watch Full Metal Alchemist since without being an anime that is dedicated to being emotional it has many more cruel and sentimental scenes than this anime in general. When I see a school anime that is excellent (That I don't think exists) I'll give you a review and you'll be the first one I mention. ;)
