Hello Anime Fans! It's the first month of the year and It's time again for my monthly fanart. I'm glad that I was able to squeeze in some time to draw for this month.
The character that I chose for this month is from the Fate anime series. She's Artoria Pendragon or also known as Saber. One of the participants of the Holy Grail War. Her character is based or inspired from a famous fictional character, King Arthur. And of course her character wouldn't be based on King Arthur without the Excalibur Sword.
I've been wanting to draw her ever since I started learning how to draw. Actually, she's one of the characters on the list that I want to draw from the Animes that I've watched from the 2010s. I already drew Maka Albarn last year, so I had to draw one or a few more from the list this year.
PROCESS
I started with a simple sketch (blue color) of her pose and then I added the details of the hair, dress, armor, and sword with a rough line art.

After that, I added the base color of each part of the character and I also strated painting what would the background color would look like.

The first part I rendered was the hair. I also adjusted the blend mode of the rough line art to multiply so that the color will blend with the base colors. I forgot the ahoge (the hair sticking out on top) so I added it here.

Next is the Armor. Rendering a metal is one of the hardest part on this piece, so I made it simple. After painting the armor, I then proceed to add the details and the design on her chest.

On this part, I painted her dress but I forgot to add the yellow details.

I added the details on her dress here and started rendering her skin and the eyes.

After that, I painted the Excalibur and again, I forgot the glow of the sword.

I added the glow of the sword here. Then painted some light bounce on the character and also added the red moon on the background.

And to finish this piece, I added some fire embers around her. Some embers are blurry to add depth. I also added a red glow on the moon and the intense highlights on the armor

TIMELAPSE

I started this artwork late but I'm glad I was able to finish it a lot quicker this time.
And I like how the artwork turned out even though it was rushed.
Thanks for reading! Have a nice day!
