Dear friends of @theAnimeRealm, I hope you are well. I am well too. Today I will review a very important anime with you. After watching it, how did I feel, what lessons did I learn here, what did I dislike, I will share everything with you. So I can't help but share it with you. I am hopeful that everyone will like my review. So everyone will read it very carefully. The anime I am going to discuss with you today is called Up on Poppy Hill.
Story SummaryThe first character in this movie is a girl named Umi whose mother died. Since Umi's mother died, she lived with her grandmother in a small house in a small town by the sea. The interesting thing is that Umi would stand on the top of a hill every morning and raise a flag there. This flag was associated with the memory of her father. Later, she became interested in preserving a very old clubhouse at that school. There, she met a boy named Shun. Shun is also a member of a club and he and his friends are working to preserve this old clubhouse. Later, Umi joins Shun in the work.
Since both of them have the goal of renovating an old clubhouse, they work together. Gradually, they get to know each other and their relationship becomes deeper and closer. But unfortunately, an unexpected obstacle comes in the way of their relationship. Somehow, they learn that Umi's mother and Shun's father were once very good friends. Although they were friends, they had some unresolved issues between them. After learning these things, they both face the difficult truth of their family's past. These things become a big obstacle and a new challenge for their relationship. Suddenly, one day, Shun goes to Umi's house. There, he sees a picture of Umi's father that seems very familiar to him.
Later, when she returns home and takes out their family photo album, she realizes that this man is with her father. Then a question arises in her mind about this. Later, she asks her father about the matter, and she is not at all prepared for the answer that comes from her father. Her father says that he is not his own child, but a friend of his gave him the picture when he was a child. Later, she can be sure that it is Umi's father after seeing the picture. As a result, they become siblings.
Finally, another dramatic incident occurs in the story where they again find out that they are not actually siblings. Shun is the son of Umi's father's friend who survived after Shun died, which is why Umi's father gives Shun to his friend. Later, they meet one of her father's friends and find out the whole truth that her father is still alive. They are very sure that they are not siblings. But she hoists the flag in memory of her father. The most important thing here is that she has found her love, and this is how the movie ends.
My ReviewUp on Poppy Hill I found it to be a heart-warming story. The story is based on the history and background of post-war Japan. Every scene in the anime movie reminds me of old stories. Nostalgia and the complexity of human relationships are presented here in a great way. The relationship between the two main characters, Umi and Shun, and the complexity of family history and the attempt to save an old club all together make the story a lively story. The background music of the movie was good but I would have been happy if it had been a little better. I liked the animation style. The characters were very emotional. One thing to say is that the story felt a little slow in some places which I did not like. Those who expect action like me may lose some patience. Even then, I learned from this anime movie that just as family history can be complicated, being able to accept the truth and giving priority to love is also very important for life. Just as we can find beauty in relationships even if we make mistakes in the past, that is the main message of the anime movie. Umi and Shun are two names that have a relationship that teaches us about sacrifice and trust. I can say that this movie left a unique impression on me.
