Fire and Resolve
The battle at the Kamiya Dojo rages on. Hyottoko, still reeking of oil and smoke, refills the keg strapped to his back. Flames flicker in his eyes as he prepares to burn everything to ash. But standing in his way is Sanosuke, battered, limping, yet smiling through the pain.
Hyottoko exhales a massive wave of fire that fills the courtyard with light and heat. There’s no room to dodge—no escape. Yet Sano charges straight through it, his silhouette cutting across the flames like a spear. In a single brutal move, he grabs the oil bag from Hyottoko’s throat and yanks it out through his mouth.
One kick later, the fire-breathing monster collapses. Silence follows, broken only by Sano’s exhausted grin. “You’re done,” he mutters. The crowd of stunned onlookers—Kaoru, Megumi, Yahiko—can’t believe what they’ve just witnessed.
The fighter who never backs down has just proved why he’s part of Team Kenshin.
The Poisoned Dart
From the shadows, Beshimi—the scrawny assassin who once crossed paths with Kenshin and Sano at the gambling hall—looks on in disbelief. “Impossible… Hyottoko defeated by them?” His frustration turns to rage. “It’s all her fault. The woman’s cursed us!”
Without hesitation, he flicks a rasenbyo, a deadly spiral dart laced with poison, straight toward Megumi. The dart whirls through the air, glinting in the sunlight. Before anyone can react, Yahiko leaps into its path. The dart pierces his small frame, and he collapses instantly, eyes wide and unfocused.
“Yahiko!” Kaoru screams as she rushes to his side. His tiny hands twitch, his breathing shallow. Megumi kneels beside him, horrified, already trying to assess the poison spreading through his veins. The chaos feels overwhelming—but Kenshin’s calm voice cuts through it: “Stay with him. I’ll take care of this.”
The Oni Mask
Kenshin disappears into the trees, his footsteps silent. He finds Beshimi perched on a branch, smirking—but before Kenshin’s blade can strike, the figure vanishes in a puff of leaves. Kawarimi no Jutsu. A substitution trick.
Then the forest goes quiet. A new presence fills the air—a suffocating aura of power and control. Kenshin’s instincts flare. From the shadows, a tall figure steps forward, wearing a fearsome oni mask. The ground itself seems to tighten around him.
Even Kenshin, the legendary Hitokiri Battosai, feels the pressure. His eyes narrow as he grips his sword. This isn’t another assassin. This is something far more dangerous.
The man behind the mask doesn’t speak, but his intent is clear. The Oniwabanshu have revealed their true strength.
Final Thoughts
This act feels like the moment when everything changes. It’s not just a fight—it’s the birth of Team Kenshin, forged through fire, sacrifice, and loyalty. Sanosuke’s reckless bravery, Yahiko’s selflessness, and Kenshin’s unwavering calm show that this isn’t a group tied by blood or training—it’s one united by conviction.
The appearance of the masked warrior sends chills. His aura alone is enough to make even Kenshin pause. For the first time since Jin-e, the rurouni faces an opponent who might truly be his equal—or worse. The stakes have never felt higher.
