I recently had the opportunity to watch an anime that was recommended to me a long time ago and that I hadn't had time to watch, and although I'm honestly still debating internally whether I liked it or not because of the ending, I think that a movie is full of many elements that must be taken into account and that go far beyond the ending.
Recientemente tuve la oportunidad de ver un anime que me recomendaron hace mucho y que yo no había tenido tiempo de ver, y aunque honestamente todavía estoy debatiendo en mi interior acerca de sí me gustó a o no a causa del final que tuvo, pienso que una película está llena de muchos elementos que se deben tomar en cuenta y que van mucho más allá del cierre o final.
Overview/Resumen
It all begins when a baby is abandoned in the forest. Seeing that he was inevitably going to die, the spirits took pity on him and decided to adopt him, naming him Gin. However, after spending so much time with them, he became ethereal, to the point of gradually losing his humanity. If he were ever touched by a human, he would disappear completely. As the years passed, Gin discovered Hotaru, a six-year-old girl who had gotten lost in the forest. Over time, they formed a beautiful friendship and looked forward to meeting each summer in the forest. This friendship eventually blossomed into a romantic relationship, but always with the barrier of forbidden physical contact. However, they both developed strategies to overcome this obstacle, until one day, wanting to avoid an accident, what we feared most happened 😭
Todo comienza cuando un bebé es abandonado en el bosque, al ver que inevitablemente iba a morir, los espíritus se compadecieron de él y decidieron adoptarlo y llamarlo Gin, sin embargo, al pasar tanto tiempo con ellos él se fue volviendo etéreo, hasta el punto de perder gradualmente su humanidad, y si acaso era tocado por un humano desaparecería por completo. Con el pasar de los años Gin descubre a Hotaru, una niña de seis años que se perdió en el bosque. Con el pasar del tiempo ambos entablan una linda amistad, y esperan cada verano para encontrarse en el bosque, esta amistad eventualmente escala a una relación romántica pero siempre con la barrera de la prohibición del contacto físico presente, sin embargo ambos desarrollan estrategias para sobrellevar este impedimento, hasta que cierto día, queriendo evitar un accidente... well, I won't say anything else, I just recommend you watch the movie 😭

My Opinion/Mi Opinión
There's no doubt it's a beautiful film, not only aesthetically, given its varied color palette, especially since most of the story takes place during the summer, but also because it conveys powerful messages. For example, love is such a strong feeling that it goes far beyond physical contact; it's about shared experiences, the lessons learned over time, the maturity gained, and the lessons learned. Love also has no face, which is why Gin always wears a mask. But on the other hand, this film also speaks to us about acceptance and our perception of it. For example, Gin was accepted without question by the forest spirits, so much so that they made him one of them, regardless of his human origin. Yet he insisted on wearing a mask to try, in some way, to look like them, which would make him feel more in tune with them, but he never really needed that mask.
No hay dudas de que es una película hermosa, no solo estéticamente ya que maneja una paleta de colores muy variada, en especial porque la mayoría de la historia transcurre durante los veranos, pero también es hermosa en la historia misma porque transmite poderosos mensajes como por ejemplo, que el amor es un sentimiento tan fuerte que va mucho más allá del contacto físico, se trata de las vivencias, las experiencias que se adquieren con el paso del tiempo, es la madurez adquirida y el aprendizaje, el amor tampoco tiene rostro, por eso Gin siempre lleva una mascara, pero por otra parte esta película también nos habla de la aceptación y la percepción que tenemos sobre ella, por ejemplo, Gin fue aceptado sin miramientos por los espíritus del bosque, tanto que lo volvieron uno de ellos sin importarle su rigen humano, pero él insistía en usar una máscara para tratar, de alguna forma, de verse como ellos, lo cuál lo haría sentirse más en contexto, pero realmente jamás necesitó de esa máscara.
The film maintains a very interesting and dynamic pace, so it's impossible to get bored. A very important element emerges, worthy of consideration: time. This is represented in the film through Hotaru's growth, as she goes from being a little girl to a young woman, while Gin is the only one who remains the same. This indicates that he is certainly not like her; living together in that forest has granted him a certain divinity, so to speak. And then we have the forest itself, which acts as a magical setting where this relationship finds its connection.
La película maneja un ritmo dinámico muy interesante, así que no es posible aburrirse, y surge un elemento muy importante, digno de tomar en cuanta, el cuál es el tiempo, este se representa en la película a través del crecimiento de Hotaru, ya que ella pasa de ser una niña pequeña a una jovencita, mientras que Gin es el único que se mantiene igual, lo cuál nos indica que ciertamente él no es como ella, la convivencia en aquel bosque le ha otorgado cierta divinidad, por llamarlo de alguna manera, y pues también tenemos al bosque propiamente que actúa como escenario mágico donde esta relación encuentra complicidad
Although the ending made me very sad and left a feeling of loss that was difficult to bear, seeing Hotaru continue with her life as if nothing happened makes me think that another message this film wants to convey is overcoming grief; all loss is painful, but life must go on despite the pain, which makes us more resilient and wise.
A pesar de que el final me dio mucha tristeza y deja un sentimiento de pérdida difícil de soportar, ver luego que Hotaru continúa con su vida como si nada me hace pensar que otro de los mensajes que esta película quiere transmitir es la superación de los duelos, toda pérdida es dolorosa pero la vida debe continuar a pesar del dolor, lo que nos hace más resilientes y sabios.
