Pues he estado algo ausente por acá debido a tener varias responsabilidades que cumplir que me quitan mucho tiempo. Pero habiendo terminado de ver la segunda temporada de Solo Leveling era obligatorio hacer mi reseña al respecto. Eso sí, como usualmente hago este post incluye spoilers, así que si aún no ves la temporada, ve corriendo porque está buenísima y luego vuelves por acá...
Well, I've been somewhat absent from here due to having several responsibilities that take up a lot of my time. But having just finished watching the second season of Solo Leveling, I had to write my review. Of course, as usual, this post includes spoilers, so if you haven't watched the season yet, go right ahead because it's great and then come back here...

Solo Leveling 나 혼자만 레벨업, es un shōnen que ya tuvo su primera temporada de la cual hablé hace un tiempo en otro post. En esta njueva temporada continuamos viendo la historia de Sung Jinwoo, ahora cazador rango S que continúa haciéndose cada vez más fuerte, al punto de que cada persona que lo conoce queda completamente anonadada, incluso los cazadores más fuertes o las criaturas más poderosas.
Sabemos que Jinwoo hace todo esto por salvar a su madre, pero se mantiene la duda, ¿qué hace a este cazador diferente a los demás?...
Solo Leveling 나 혼자만 레벨업, is a shōnen that already had its first season which I talked about a while ago in another post. In this new season we continue to see the story of Sung Jinwoo, now an S-rank hunter who continues to grow stronger and stronger, to the point that everyone who meets him is completely stunned, even the strongest hunters or the most powerful creatures.
We know Jinwoo is doing all this to save his mother, but the question remains, what makes this hunter different from the others?...
En esta temporada el anime mantiene sólidos sus puntos fuertes, haciendo que siga igual de entretenido de ver o incluso más que en la temporada anterior, puesto que hay mucha más acción. Jinwoo deja ver su poder cada vez más, lo cual lo lleva a enfrentar más retos, uno más difícil que el otro.
El concepto de juego RPG obviamente se mantiene, y algo que resulta fascinante es que el protagonista parece que nunca dejará de subir de nivel. Una vez que crees que alcanzó su límite, termina volviéndose incluso más poderoso. Y aunque esto puede resultar absurdo porque básicamente nadie puede vencerlo en esta temporada, igual sigue siendo increíblemente entretenido. La verdad, ver este tipo de historia de vez en cuando me gusta mucho, porque a veces no quiero ver una historia compleja de progreso lento. A veces solo quiero acción que me divierta, y es el caso con esta serie. No te aburres en ningún momento porque en cada capítulo pasa algo interesante.
Además, ¿a quién no le gusta el héroe insuperable? A mí me encanta, y estoy segura de que a muchos también puesto que este tipo de personajes resulta admirable, porque refleja la historia de alguien que no se dejó vencer y continuó superándose a sí mismo constantemente. ¿Cliché? Sí, lo es, pero sigue siendo bueno y entretenido de ver.
This season, the anime maintains its strong points, making it just as entertaining to watch, if not more so than the previous season, as there's a lot more action. Jinwoo increasingly reveals his power, which leads him to face more challenges, each one more difficult than the last.
The RPG concept obviously remains, and something fascinating is that the protagonist seems to never stop leveling up. Once you think he's reached his limit, he ends up becoming even more powerful. And while this may seem absurd because basically no one can beat him this season, it's still incredibly entertaining. Honestly, I really like watching this kind of story from time to time because sometimes I don't want to watch a complex, slow-moving story. Sometimes I just want action that's fun, and that's the case with this series. You never get bored because something interesting happens in each episode.
Besides, who doesn't love an unbeatable hero? I love it, and I'm sure many others do too, since this type of character is admirable because it reflects the story of someone who refused to give up and constantly continued to surpass themselves. Cliché? Yes, it is, but it's still good and entertaining to watch.
Las peleas son fuertes y entretenidas, la animación se mantiene bastante consistente, hay nuevos personajes y se toma en cuenta todos los cambios que el nuevo poder de Jinwoo conlleva, no solamente para él sino también para el resto, puesto que tal como dirían por allí, un gran poder conlleva una gran responsabilidad.
Un aspecto que me encantó fue que pudimos ver muchas más emociones en el protagonista. En la primera temporada parece que el poder es inversamente proporcional a su humanidad, pero en ésta vemos que después de todo sigue teniendo sus sentimientos muy fuertes y muy humanos. Por allí vi a mucha gente comentando que cuando rompe a llorar en ese gran episodio es como salirse completamente de lo que habían construído para el personaje, y yo no podría estar más en desacuerdo. Literalmente el único propósito que ha tenido desde el principio era salvar a su madre, era lo único que quería lograr. El poder y la fama fue algo que vino como extra. Por ello cuando por fin ve a su madre sonreír y consolarlo, ¿cómo no va a reaccionar? Su llanto de alivio es completamente justificado, y nos da un personaje con mayor profundidad.
The fights are strong and entertaining, the animation remains fairly consistent, there are new characters, and all the changes that Jinwoo's new power brings are taken into account, not only for him but also for the rest, since, as some people say, with great power comes great responsibility.
One aspect I loved was that we got to see a lot more emotion from the protagonist. In the first season, it seemed like power was inversely proportional to his humanity, but in this one we see that, after all, he still has very strong and very human feelings. I saw a lot of people commenting that when he bursts into tears in that great episode, it's like a complete departure from what they had built for the character, and I couldn't disagree more. Literally his only purpose from the beginning was to save his mother; it was the only thing he wanted to achieve. Power and fame were something that came as a bonus. So when he finally sees his mother smile and comfort him, how could he not react? His tears of relief are completely justified, and it gives us a character with greater depth.
Pero ciertamente el anime no es perfecto, y así como mantiene sus puntos positivos también lo hace con los negativos. Hay demasiados personajes secundarios y literalmente ninguno tiene mucho desarrollo. Te explican un poco de quiénes son, un poco de su historia y listo, de vuelta a Jinwoo. Que obviamente eso inevitablemente pasará porque por algo es el protagonista, pero tener tanto personaje sin desarrollo solo hace que se sientan de relleno. Incluso eso se hace más notorio cuando en la pelea final prácticamente no hacen nada, todo lo resuleve Jinwoo sin la más mínima ayuda.
Entiendo que el punto es que él es el más fuerte de todos, pero si al menos uno de los otros personajes hubiera ayudado mínimamente se daría a entender que tienen aunque sea un poco de propósito. Recuerdo que en el último capítulo, cuando Cha Hae-in dice que necesita superarse para estar al nivel de Jinwoo y complementarlo solo pude echarme a reír... ¿De dónde salió tanto amor y admiración? Pues literalmente de ninguna parte. Ningún personaje secundario tiene un propósito real. Dicho sea de paso, también hay muchos plot holes
But the anime certainly isn't perfect, and just as it maintains its positive aspects, it also maintains its negative aspects. There are too many supporting characters, and literally none of them have much development. They explain a little about who they are, a bit of their backstory, and that's it, back to Jinwoo. Obviously, that's bound to happen because he's the protagonist for a reason, but having so many undeveloped characters just makes them feel like filler. This becomes even more noticeable when, in the final fight, they practically do nothing; Jinwoo resolves everything without the slightest help.
I understand the point is that he's the strongest of them all, but if at least one of the other characters had helped even a little, it would have made it clear that they have at least a little purpose. I remember in the last episode, when Cha Hae-in says she needs to improve herself to be on Jinwoo's level and complement him, I could only laugh... Where did so much love and admiration come from? Well, literally out of nowhere. Not a single supporting character has a real purpose. By the way, there are also many plot holes
Pero con todo y sus fallas, realmente Solo Leveling es un muy buen anime. Nunca deja de ser entretenido, siempre está ocurriendo algo relevante y no deja de sorprenderte con las hazañas de Jinwoo, y creo que ese es el punto. Esta historia simplemente trata del héroe de los héroes, de alguien increíblemente fuerte y que seguirá creciendo. ¿Por qué? Pues es algo que aún está por verse en el anime (no he leído el manhwa), pero lo cierto es que creo que muchos estaremos aquí muy al pendiente de las siguientes temporadas.
But beside all its flaws, Solo Leveling is actually a very good anime. It never stops being entertaining, there's always something relevant happening, and it never ceases to surprise you with Jinwoo's feats, and I think that's the point. This story is simply about the hero of heroes, someone incredibly strong who will continue to grow. Why? Well, that's something that remains to be seen in the anime (I haven't read the manhwa), but the truth is that I think many of us will be here, following very closely the next seasons.
