Hello anime lovers. Today I want to talk about one of the best action anime that has been aired this year. An animated series that no one expected but many of us enjoyed with a quality of animation far superior to other anime of the same genre, you can even say that it is even better than the animation of "Solo Leveling". It is an original Japanese animated series (that is, it is not inspired or adapted from any literary work of the same name) which was produced by E&H Production and Sola Entertainment studios. It had a premiere in Spanish America on the Adult Swim television channel, as well as a premiere in Japan, of course. With an initial success that surpassed the aforementioned work, the popularity that this anime got at the beginning was huge, but in the end it ended up being forgotten by the competition. In this post I will give you my opinion about this anime of 13 chapters full of action, blood and many ninjas.

Plot
The story begins by introducing us to an apparent American family living in a rural part of this huge country. They enjoy their family time, both the parents and the young child, playing, eating and walking. However, on television there is talk of undercover ninjas who have recently been found dead in their homes. Apparently a gang of assassins are hunting them, with our family being next, because yes, they too are exiled ninjas trying to stay undercover by masks and an alibi like an ordinary family. One night, the assassins arrive at the house and start capturing the wife and son while attacking the father. He manages to defend himself, but fails to save his wife who is killed along with the child before his very eyes. This causes our protagonist to become so angry that he manages to kill all the assassins, except for one, who also seems to be ninjas from the same clan where he was from. Joe Higan, our protagonist, ends up simulating the death of his alibi to cover his tracks and hide from those who are looking for him, while he decides to prepare to take revenge for the death of his wife and son.

La historia empieza presentándonos a una aparente familia estadounidense viviendo en un sitio rural de este enorme país. Estos disfrutan de su tiempo en familia, tanto los padres como el niño pequeño, jugando, comiendo y paseando. Sin embargo, en la televisión se habla de la existencia de ninjas encubiertos que han sido encontrados muertos en sus casas recientemente. Al parecer una banda de asesinos están cazandolos, siendo nuestra familia los siguientes, porque si, ellos también son ninjas exiliados que intentan mantenerse encubiertos por máscaras y una coartada como una familia común y corriente. Una noche, los asesinos llegan a la casa y empiezan a capturar a la mujer y al hijo mientras atacan al padre. Este logra defenderse, pero no consigue salvar a su esposa quien es asesinada junto con el niño ante sus propios ojos. Esto causa que nuestro protagonista se enoje tanto que consigue acabar con todos los asesinos, excepto por uno, los cuales parecen ser también ninjas del mismo clan de donde era él. Joe Higan, nuestro protagonista, termina simulando la muerte de su coartada para así cubrir sus rastros y esconderse de los que lo están buscando, a su vez que decide prepararse para vengarse por la muerte de su esposa e hijo.

Existen pocos animes con tan excelente calidad como lo es este, el cual empezó de una forma impresionante, superando así el estreno de “Solo Leveling”, con una animación muy bien hecha y una trama que atrapa al espectador por completo. Una historia de amor, odio y venganza con personajes bien hechos y batallas increíbles. La calidad en cuanto a banda sonora, efectos de sonido y efectos especiales es tal que fácilmente consiguió escalar entre los mejores animes de acción de este año, en lo personal. La combinación del gore, con el drama y el humor negro con la acción que tiene esta serie animada es tal que no se la recomiendo a todo el mundo. Bueno, al final es una serie que únicamente fue emitida en el canal de Adult Swim, como para que tengan una idea. Sin embargo, lo que más llama la atención es la mezcla de culturas, siendo la japonesa con la occidental, mezclando también lo tradicional con lo moderno, consiguiendo una obra que representa muy bien ambos mundos y lo peor de ellos en una historia un tanto dolorosa.

Let's start talking about the story, which mixes Japanese traditions related to ninjas with the modern world, showing an evolution in technology and society, with an organization that has access to all media, this being a reference to the monopolization of big brands and companies in the real world. The relationship of said organization with the traditions and the goal of our protagonist is both curious and a bit cliché, truth be told. While I like the idea of mixing both worlds into one, in the end it may affect the visuals by creating warriors with mechanical suits as if it were an Iron Man with Samurai X movie. I'm not saying I don't like it, but at the time of the battles it doesn't make sense if the protagonist gets his revenge with the help of this technology. The way the story unfolds is at best interesting due to this combination, which is not bad, but at certain moments it loses a bit the sense of everything we know in these typical action anime.
The characters, on the other hand, are one of the strong points of this anime, being Joe Higan, the main character, the one who has more development throughout the work. With a beginning where we see him enjoying happily with his family, to suddenly change everything to hell, losing everything and replacing his short happiness with a life full of hatred and revenge. He walks this dark path with no idea of what he is up against, with powerful enemies, technology and a position far above all else. However, the way in which he manages to face all this is a sample of how surreal this story can become as far as ninja skills and powers are concerned. His path he does not manage to walk alone, so he meets people who help him to achieve his goal and get the power he needs thanks to technology. All the characters we see in this work have something to teach us, some being faithful to their traditions and objectives and others without any direction or path to follow, which makes us easily identify with each of them.

Empecemos hablando de la historia, la cual mezcla las tradiciones japonesas relacionadas con los ninjas con el mundo moderno, mostrando una evolución en la tecnología y la sociedad, con una organización que posee el acceso de todos los medios, siendo esta una referencia a la monopolización de las grandes marcas y empresas en el mundo real. La relación de dicha organización con las tradiciones y el objetivo de nuestro protagonista es tanto curiosa como un poco cliché, la verdad. Si bien me gusta la idea de mezclar ambos mundos en uno solo, al final puede que esto afecte en lo visual al crear guerreros con trajes mecánicos como si de una película de Iron Man con Samurai X se tratara. Ojo, no digo que no me guste, pero al momento de las batallas no tiene sentido si el protagonista consigue cumplir su venganza con la ayuda de esta tecnología. La forma en la que se desarrolla la historia es como mucho interesante debido a esta combinación que no está mal, pero que en ciertos momentos se pierde un poco el sentido de todo lo que conocemos en estos típicos animes de acción.
Los personajes, por otro lado, son uno de los puntos fuertes que tiene este anime, siendo Joe Higan, el protagonista, el que más desarrollo tiene durante toda la obra. Con un inicio en donde lo vemos disfrutar feliz con su familia, a cambiarlo todo de forma repentina a un infierno, perdiéndolo todo y sustituyendo su corta felicidad con una vida repleta de odio y venganza. Este recorre este oscuro camino sin idea de lo que se enfrenta, con enemigos muy poderosos, con tecnología y una posición muy por encima de todo. Sin embargo, la manera en la que este consigue enfrentarse a todo esto es una muestra de lo surrealista que puede llegar a convertirse esta historia en cuanto a habilidades ninjas y poderes se refiere. Su camino no lo consigue recorrer solo, por lo cual se encuentra con gente que lo ayuda a cumplir con su objetivo y obtener el poder que necesita gracias a la tecnología. Todos los personajes que vemos en esta obra tienen algo que enseñarnos, algunos siendo fieles a sus tradiciones y objetivos y otros sin ningún rumbo o camino por seguir, lo cual nos hace identificarnos fácilmente con cada uno de ellos.

The mix of action with gore and humor that this movie has is perfect, which together with the spectacular animation makes it a masterpiece that is well worth watching. For an original series produced by two animation studios that don't have much history behind them, the work they put into this project is admirable at best. The mix of detailed drawings so excellently done, the fluidity in the movements between battles and the perfect blend of 2D and 3D animation makes more than one marvel at this great work. And if we mention the sound effects and the soundtrack it has, it makes it an audiovisual work that perfectly conveys all the feelings that this story of hatred and revenge has. While what stands out the most is its animation, the story and characters also have a couple of interesting things that we can take away after watching it. This is one of those anime that I only recommend it to those who are fans of works with a somewhat dark and bloody tone, with very deep messages and characters that you can easily identify with, besides having an absurd amount of action that can leave you satisfied.
Personally, I give it a 9/10 rating for the action, gore and sci-fi genre.

La mezcla de acción con gore y humor que tiene esta película es perfecta, lo cual junto con la espectacular animación que posee la hace una obra maestra que vale mucho la pena ver. Para ser una serie original producida por dos estudios de animación que no cuentan con mucho historial detrás de sí, el trabajo que le dedicaron a este proyecto es admirable, como mucho. La mezcla de dibujos con detalles tan excelentemente hechos, la fluidez en los movimientos entre las batallas y la mezcla perfecta de animación 2D con 3D logra que más de uno se quede maravillado por este gran trabajo. Y si mencionamos los efectos de sonido y la banda sonora que tiene, la hace una obra audiovisual que transmite perfectamente todos los sentimientos que esta historia de odio y venganza posee. Si bien lo que más se destaca es su animación, la historia y los personajes también tienen un par de cosas interesantes que podemos llevarnos luego de verla. Este es uno de esos animes que solo se lo recomiendo a aquellos que son fanáticos de obras con un tono un tanto oscuro y sangriento, con mensajes muy profundos y personajes con los que te puedes identificar fácilmente, además de tener una cantidad absurda de acción que te puede dejar satisfecho.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9/10 en lo que respecta al género de acción, gore y ciencia ficción.
