I agree with you about what you said about the last season and the unnecessary division of parts. I remember when I saw them on air and it was stressful watching "Final Season Part 1, 2, Final Part A and Final Part B", that until the end, the end was a long film that even had its extended version later (recently). If that isn't milking this franchise for all it's worth, I don't know what is.
I also agree with the ending, which was quite disappointing. Even now, I still wonder what the creator had in mind for Eren, giving him that ending. AOT definitely stands out from other popular anime for its incredible Plot-Twist since the one they gave at the end with Eren and the blond (I don't remember his name) was quite unexpected and absurd beyond belief.
But anyway, aside from those couple of (but not unimportant) details, this anime is one of the best I've seen.
