Well, technically, it's not underrated. Still, I do think that this manga - Dead Dead Demon's De De De De Destruction by Inio Asano is not that well-known and is super underappreciated.
The story is about two high school girls (Kadode Koyama and Ouran Nakagawa) who struggle with the mundanity of life after an alien spaceship descends on Japan. It's a slice-of-life sci-fi seinen manga.
What makes Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction such a delightful masterpiece is that even in the midst of all that it is and how it mirrors some of what we are going through presently, it carries pleasantness and an optimism that is inspiring. There are comfort and meaning in the simple day-to-day repetitive acts and the relationships that sustain us amid fear, uncertainty, anxiety, and exhaustion. They have as much ability to shape and change us as any global catastrophe.
I really like the humors of this manga as well.
Please don't take my word for it. Read it yourself, and you will understand how amazing this manga is. :)
