The first time I saw his character, Dot immediately reminded me of Bakugo with Kirishima visuals. With his spiky hair, loud personality and his signature "DIE 100X" catchphrase, there's no doubt he resembles Bakugo. Enough with my Bakugo ramblings, Dot is really a funny yet sincere character. By the way, in case you're not familiar with Dot Barrett, he's a character from Mashle: Magic and Muscles. Even though he may be not a pleasant fellow at first, but still when you get to know him, you'll eventually know why he's like that and you'll also see along the way his nice traits and one of these is that he is unusually well-mannered—sometimes.
At first, I find it weird because—what happened to the proud and loud Dot? But it turns out he was just raised that way. He came from a family with his grandmother, mother, and older sister—that's why he acts well-mannered at times, especially when meeting some new people. His backstory also featured his childhood where he was bullied. Unlike his current self, before he was timid and it was always his older sister who protected him. It wasn't unexpected that he turned out that way, tho the part as to why he hates handsome and popular men was still quite a mystery for me. He even hated Mash for a while but of 'course that hate didn't last long because hating Mash after you get to know him is an impossible feat.
Even though he's now friends with Mash, he still hates handsome men and it's evident on how he treats Lance. He's clearly an odd one, but like I said, he's somewhat decent and well-mannered. He even was the only one who brought a gift when they were visiting Regro—Mash's stepfather. He may look rough and tough, but strangely he's fond of tea and was said to gift it to the people he met. Even the Official Fanbook said that he also shared tea—herbal tea specifically—with Abel who in return liked it. It's the same tea he brought for Regro so of 'course it's evident he likes it.
By and by, his character was indeed an interesting one, and what's more astonishing is that according to a trivia I read about his character, Dot was supposed to be a main character that he's been yearning for in another manga before Mashle, but unfortunately, the editors of Mashle's creator disagreed because they find him unlikeable. So instead of having his own manga, Dot ended up in Mashle and became one of the friends of the main character. But anyway, he still thinks he's the main character so that's fine. Indeed, looks and first impressions can be deceiving because, like the usual loud and tough characters in anime, Dot also has a hidden soft side in him.
So again he's a reminder not to judge quickly because I've been fooled by Aizen before...I should have learned through that by now, but unfortunately, it is just easy to say but hard to act upon. Hopefully, I'll get to see more of Dot in season 3 which I'm hoping we'll be getting soon because his last serious fight was promising and I want to see more of him fighting with high emotions. So yeah, that's all for the herbal tea lover boy character review. I'm usually not fond of reviewing characters, but I'm quite motivated to review him since tea lovers are a search for this month's quest. How about you? Who's the tea lover character you like or you know? If you know one then feel free to share it below in the comment. That's all for now minna-san. Thanks for reading through and hope to see you around! Jaaaaane 𓁹‿𓁹 ʰᵉʰᵉ~
